What Have I Been Doing?

Over the last couple of days I've been making Christmas cards for Todd's grandma. When you hear people talk about being on a limited income...well, she really and truly is on a limited income so I thought I'd make her cards this year. I decided on this because while it is cute it is also fairly easy to stamp and put together. Once Todd picks out the sentiment he'd like on the inside they will be all set to go to her. I'm really hoping she'll like my selection!

The drummer boy and the sentiment are from Stampendous! The rest of the card is Stampin' Up!

What have you guys been making recently? I'd love to see! Just link it to the comments section.

Have a fabulous Friday everyone!

Just A Reminder

Hi All! I just want to remind you that the Holiday Mini will be going away forever as of November 30th. Is there something you've been thinking about getting but were on the edge? Well, go on over the edge, girlfriend and order it! Oh, and while you are at it maybe you should order some designer paper. Stampin' Up!'s Pretty Papers Promotion will be closing on November 30th as well. It is a fabulous buy 3 get 1 free offer and the best part? You choose which one you'd like for free! Oh, and do you need some of that fabulous Satin Ribbon to finish off that holiday card? Remember it is buy one get one free in the Wrapping Up the Holiday's promotion. The Wrapping Up the Holiday's promotion started November 23rd and will wrap up December 15th.

Lastly...did you know there are only 33 days until the new Spring/Summer Catalog comes out? EXCITING! And...only 3 more days until the Fall/Winter retirement list comes out! What do you think will be on it? Don't Know Go ahead...post a couple of guesses! I'd love to see what you think!

I Got My Secret Angel Box!

After getting off the phone with Heidi (who got her box today, too!) my mailman came to the door with my Angel Box! I have been spoiled by Shannon (tyrymom29)! She sent such a fun box of things for me! I received...okay I must make this in list form since there is so much!

1. Designer Papers from both SU! and other companies. One is all sparkly and another is embossed on!
2. Sparkly Chipboard Letters.
3. A 'Lorie's Christmas To Do List'. LOVE this!
4. The Snow wheel from Stampin' Up!
5. Ice and Burgundy Stickles.
6. Humungo paper clips.
7. Snowman eyelets.
8. Hazelnut Turtles (now how would she know that I LOVE hazelnut?)
9. A very neat homemade box with Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark in it.
10. Lindt 70% Cocoa bar...did I mention I like dark chocolate too?
11. And, of course the really neat round box that the little stuff came in!

I am just so stinkin' thrilled! Thank you so much Shannon!

Winter Bright Coaster Calendar

Not sure what to do with all those cool coasters you bought? Well, here is a super fun, easy, and usable project that you can make for friends, co-workers, or family members alike! And again, it takes no time at all to put this together. This literally only takes 4 pieces of card stock, a couple of lengths of ribbon, 3 stickers, and the calendar. I'm going to say my total cost would be somewhere around $1.00 to put this together. Todd had a great idea last night of making them for the ladies that will attend our Christmas get together on Sunday. I have a ton of coasters so I may try it with some of the Dashing designer paper.

I got the calendars from Stamp On This. I ordered them Friday last week and received them on Monday so super fast shipping and a great product!

Who will you make this calendar for?

Coming soon...a poll asking you which one of the Winter Bright projects you'd like me to do a tutorial on. I'll try and get that up later this afternoon!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Winter Bright Wishlist/Receipt Holder

Sorry for the late post everyone! As you know I didn't have a project ready ahead of time for today so I needed to make one. I'll have you know that this Wish List/Receipt Holder took me a sum total of about 15 minutes to make (if you take dinner out of the equation)! This is an absolutely fantastic gift for a friend this year! Give it to them now as a special thank you for their friendship over the last year...that way she can use it for this season's shopping! Inside there are 7 envelopes! Neato! Oh, one note...I had to use a sheet of plain Pretty in Pink Card Stock for this because I ran out of the textured as I started with these projects with a partially used SSK. Also, while I used a little magnetic closure you could certainly use something like Velcro as your closure.

Hope you like!

Winter Bright Photo Wallet

This is the last of the projects that I have all set to show you. I guess I'll need to make a couple of more, huh? Not a problem as I love doing them! This photo wallet came together in less than 15 minutes! As you can see this wallet uses a piece of the Bashful Blue Textured Card Stock, 3 of the Designer Papers, and some stickers and ribbon for accent. Easy schmesy and so impressive!

It would be so easy to just put 3 photos in this, send it to the grandparents, and see the instant smiles it will provide! Also, I think this would be a great stocking stuffer. I know you'll think I'm weird but if my husband actually had an office he worked in I'd put photos of the boys in there an he'd take it to work to show the kiddos off!

I hope you like today's installment of the Winter Bright projects! I'll be back tomorrow with another! Grin 5

Back to your regular programming...

Now for another Winter Bright project. This is an origami box. It started out as two sheets of card stock. Wild Wasabi and the Snowflake Designer paper. With some folding and a few paper cuts this is what comes out of it! I was so thrilled when I did it and that it was so easy to do. I'll make more...I them! While I used my tutorial CD from Erika however there is a tutorial on SCS doing it the same way. You can go HERE for that information. You just add some ribbon and stickers and you are all set to put a small gift or candy inside. Also, this is not one of those tiny boxes. The finished size is 4 1/4" x 4 1/4". A little set of 4x4 cards or 3x3 cards would be great in here too!

I totally wish I would have known how to do these before I sent out my Angel Package as it would have made such neat packaging! Okay, honestly, if I had known how easy it was to make all of this stuff I would have just bought a Winter Bright kit and made one of each project for my partner. Live and learn I guess.

I hope you all have a fantastic Sunday!

I Interrupt Your Winter Bright Programming

To show you this fantastic RAK that I received in the mail yesterday! I joined my friend, Courtney's, RAK Club for November and this is what I received from Melissa. Enclosed in a hot pink gift bag with a super cute Season of Joy tag (with lots of bling) is a Season of Joy card, hot chocolate holder, and a pair of lavender gloves. I'm sorry the picture is so light but you'll have to trust me that this is a fabulous gift set! I asked her how to make the hot chocolate holder and she told me that she just took the card stock and wrapped it around the hot chocolate and then secured it. I'm thinking I'll do something like that for DS's classroom for Christmas this year!

I hope you all enjoy your Saturday! See you tomorrow!

More Winter Bright

This is a coaster book made with the Winter Bright Kit. It uses 4 coasters, all four designer papers included in the kit, and some of the pink and green textured paper. Add some of the stickers and ribbon and you're all set! I have to say...I'm loving making these projects! I bought two more Winter Bright Kits so I can make more of the projects, bundle them together, and then give them to my friends! I'm so excited to see their responses! The Crop A Dile was the perfect took to put the holes in the corners of the coasters...it was just effortless!

Hope you are having a great day and that if you went shopping today you got all of the deals you were looking for!

Just FYI

Just so you guys know. ..I have decided to start a blog that has all my "personal" postings. What this means is Live-Love-Laugh-Create will now be a stamping only blog. Cool huh? If you'd like to keep up with what is going on in the Ames family house you can click HERE to go to We Live, Love, and Laugh Together blog.

Oh, and to get us started off on the right foot I am offering a blog RAK for the person who posts the most slammin' Black Friday deal they've ever gotten! Go check it out!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today is one of those days where I get all sentimental and mushy! I am thankful for so much in my life but on the top of the list is the fact that I'm thankful for my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ without whom I would not know what true life it about! He has brought me through so many situations that without Him I would never had made it. He has brought me to my wonderful husband. As I sit in my warm house with the egg casserole in the oven I thank God for my Todd. He is the love of my life and I just can't imagine my life without him. Of course my kids are on the top of the list. I mean seriously...who has better kiddos than I do? No one!!! I am also very thankful for family that lives away from us. I miss them much but know they are thinking of us. I am thankful for my friends both in town and cyber. You guys are awesome and make me so happy! I'm thankful for the troops that protect not only our right to freedom but for the rights of others too!

Aren't you happy that I'm done being thankful! I told you I get all mushy! I hope my friends in the States have a fantastic day and that my friends elsewhere have a day just as good!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Hersheys Kiss Holder and a Puzzle

Good morning my friends! A couple of weeks ago I offered a class to my customers called Winter Bright Extravaganza. The idea is to take a Winter Bright Simply Scrappin' Kit and make lots of projects with it. Well, a couple of people signed up for it but I was unable to make it a go. I decided I was going to make all the stuff myself and share them with you. These Hershey's Kiss Holders are an example of one of the projects we would have made. So easy and really...so much fun to make! So there are two pictures...one of the front and one of what the holder looks like from the side with the Kisses in it. I got a CD of the instructions for all 12 the projects created with this kit from Erika Martin's blog called Stampin' Mama. Wouldn't these be great little gifts to make for your co workers to just leave on their desks?!

The other picture I wanted to share with you is something that we sometimes do at the holiday times. We will pick out a puzzle, put up the table, and everyone will take turns (or cooperatively) working on the puzzle. Kinda a fun thing to do as a family! Oh, and even though it is in a different order...you can see where I got the idea for the name of my blog from that picture too! :o)

So, no artwork tomorrow as the boys and I will be making the turkey and stuff. (Todd has to work during the day.) Know I wish you all a very....

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Reverse Masking and Stampin' Up! Special

I tried the Reverse Masking technique last night and I LOVE it! It is so easy and so striking to use! This post has both of the cards that I made last night along with a photo of the template that I made for sponging the color on in the oval shape. A template could be just as easily made in square or circle shapes too. Maybe even a star, heart, or other fun shapes would work! I'll link HERE and HERE for the cards so you can see the colors that I used to make them. It is fairly straight forward though.

Oh, I must tell you that Stampin' Up! is running a special starting on November 23rd...ready?

Christmas with a capitol C

Hey, everyone! I think you will love this video! If you like the sound of the Go Fish Guys they have GREAT CD's for kids and with that time of year coming up they would make great, faith filled presents!

Let's Eat!

I love Thanksgiving! It requires a little bit of planning and work but oh, my..the yummy rewards you get from it! Typically Todd and I put Thanksgiving dinner together as a cooperative effort but this year...he's working during the day. So...I guess I will have Jon, Scott, and Kyler help me out this year. After all they need to know how to cook too...right?! Anyway, I decided to make little place cards for the table this year. I'm not sure why as it is just our family plus Scott's girlfriend but I thought it would be cute anyway. I've used the Cartoon Turkey and Gobble 'til you Wobble sentiment from Cornish Heritage Farms again and then wrote our names on them. I will come back and link you to SCS HERE so that you can see what I've used to make them (in case you can't tell).

I hope everyone has a super fantastic Monday! See you tomorrow!

Isn't it beautiful?!

My new blog banner is my banner for winter time and since we've now had snow...I can change it! Thanks Nicole!!! :o)

Guess What?

It is officially winter here! We are having our first snow of the new winter of 2007! The kids just had to go out and play in it! So much fun!

Why have I been so quiet recently? Because I'm working on several things at one time from work to stamping to family stuff. Whew! What fun!

I'll be back tomorrow...hopefully with some stampin' pictures!

Have a relaxing Sunday evening!

Holiday Party Invitation

'Tis the season for holiday parties! Can you believe we are already planning one for Todd's co-workers? We decided if we were going to do it we needed to get on it and do it early. I thought maybe this little drink would be cute for the invitation but lost my head with the Night of Navy as now I think it looks 4th of Julyish. Oh well! HERE is a link to my stamping supplies for this card. I used the Snowflake Glimmer Mist on the Night of Navy card stock but I must tell you that it scared me for a moment because I had already stamped the snowflakes in white craft ink and they started to run a bit. All I needed to do was straighten out the paper until it was almost dry and voila...a very pretty muted background. I would think that you could also spray the Glimmer Mist first and then stamp the snowflakes. I'll have to try that next time.

I'm off to make breakfast for my boys so you all have a super fantastic day!

Gobble, Gobble!

So...this is the first time since I started stamping about 5 years ago that I have sent out Thanksgiving cards but how do you not with this cute little Cartoon Turkey from Cornish Heritage Farms? On the inside it says 'gobble 'til you wobble'. Can you say...cute?! You can see the specifics of what I used to make this card HERE. Okay, you can see that once I get it uploaded to SCS!

Short post today since it is so late in the day but just a shout out to let you all know that I'll be having a Winter Bright Simply Scrappin' Kit stamp camp on December 1st from 1 - 4 p.m. at my house. The cost is $35 and include the Winter Bright Kit and 4 projects that you'll be making while here with unlimited possibilities with the rest of the kit that you will take home! This class is perfect for making those last minutes gifts we all need at this time of year! Sign up and money is due by November 18th. It is going to be fabulous so don't miss it!

Alright...have a fantastic evening everyone!

It's a Bella Thing!

I made another Bella yesterday. This is Chefabella and I think she is adorable and perfect for Thanksgiving!!! I had a lot of fun making this card because I used so many different company's 'stuff'. I used SU! paper and ribbon, a Stamping Bella stamp, an AMuse stamp, and the sentiment is from a great set of sentiments I got at Cornish Heritage Farms from the Kim Hughes Collection. Can I just make a suggestion ladies? Go check out Kim's stamps...they are great! Okay, really, I like everything about CHF and the greeting set...fantastic! I couldn't decide if I wanted this card to be a before or after Thanksgiving card as there is a great 'thanks' saying in the set too. Anyway, this is what I decided on...and I love her! I'm going to upload her to SCS and then I'll come back and link you to that HERE so you can see everything that I used to make her!

Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Glimmer Mist

I've been wanting to try some of the Tattered Angel's Glimmer Mist in Snowflake. I've been following it's uses from eP's website (love this shop!). Once I finally decided to order it and I received it I was afraid to use it. Silly me, huh? I put together this card very quickly the other night with the Glimmer Mist on the black card stock. While I'm not in love with this card I can see the possibilities for this layout and color combo. It think it would be WAY cute as a smaller card (maybe 4 1/4 x 4 1/4). The set also came with the words 'holiday party' and the when, where, etc...stamps too. It would make such a cute invitation to your holiday party this year! Best part? The set is a $1.00 set from Studio G! I also LOVE the look that the Glimmer Mist added. It is like having Shimmery Black paper. The Glimmer Mist comes in a bottle that you can spray in a couple of different ways onto your paper to create different looks. There are a ton of different colors too! It is a very neat product and I hope to use it more!

Do you have Glimmer Mist? I would love to see what you've made so please link your card in the comment section!

Have a great Monday!

My Appreciation

It is Veteran's Day...is your flag flying today? Will you tell a Veteran thank you for their service today?

This post is dedicated to the Veteran that has my heart...my husband, Todd. Although we have only been together for 7 1/2 years...Todd served in the Army for 22 years. I am always amazed by the things he's done and places he's gone. His dedication to his country is unlike any other. I have a t-shirt that says...Army, not a job but a way of life and that is truly what it is.

Todd...I am so proud of you! Thank you for sacrificing your time, sometimes your health, and sometimes your individuality for those who didn't even realize what it is all about! You are 'da man and I love you lots!

To all the Veteran's out there...this is for you!!!

Friendly Frankie

I forgot to show you guys the super cute Halloween card I got from my uber talented friend, Janel! Isn't Frankie just the cutest thing you've ever seen? He looks like Frankie, Jr. to me! Anyway, I'm not sure there is any actual stamping on this but circles in white, red, and black and the super cute hair in Chocolate Chip. Janel drew on his nose, mouth and scars. You know something else I appreciate about this card? On the inside each individual member of their family signed the card. I just love that and personally I have gotten away from doing that BUT (a big butt... no but!) I plan on getting back into that habit very soon!

I hope you like Frankie! Have a super fantastic Saturday we are off to the Veteran's Day parade soon!

Tagged!

Woohoo...JoAnna tagged me...I've been wanted to do these two!

First...You have to use your middle name. At the end of your blog post and and how many letters you have in your middle name is how many you tag.

K - I love Kristi's new Hanna stamps!
A - Almost all my cards are made with a recipient in mind.
Y - You guys, my readers, ROCK!

The other tag is this...

1. Link to the person that tagged you (JoAnna tagged me)
2. Post 7 random/weird facts about yourself on your blog (cause we all want to know how weird you are!)
3. Tag 7 people at the end and link to their blog
4. Leave comments on each blog that you tag so that they know!

#1. I am passionate about making sure our soldiers know we support them! Have you thanked a veteran today?
#2. I've been going through a little funk lately...hopefully that will change soon.
#3. I have a couple of friends that I haven't gotten the chance to talk to recently and I miss them!
#4. When I go to shower, dress, and put my make up on each day...I do it in the exact same order every day.
#5. I exclusively listen to Christian music.
#6. We are putting together a family puzzle right now. We each spend a little time working on it every day.
#7. I truly love my blog and the people that visit me...you guys are as much my friends as those friends that I have that live close to me!

I'm going to tag just a couple of people...

1. My friend Courtney. I can't wait to see her replies!
2. Barefoot Stamper
3. Amber
4. Abbie

I hope you girls have fun!

Tee Hee!

I made this card for a friend who is newly pregnant. I thought that putting on the inside...see what happens when you do a little to much of the stuff on the right? You end up like on the left! She will fall out laughing! So much so that I want to take the card to her so I can see her face when she opens it rather than sending it to her...lol!

Today are the school's Veterans Day assemblies. Todd is going to try and make it to both of the assemblies depending on what he is doing at the time and I'll be there too! I want to tell you that if you don't think it makes a difference to say thank you to our veterans...You are wrong. The simple act of saying thank you will mean so much to any one of the many, many, men and women that have served our country. They really have sacrificed so much so please take time to do that this weekend or you can wait until Monday but just do it!

Off my soapbox now! I hope you all have a super fantastic Friday! I'm so happy it is Friday...that means I get to sleep in tomorrow! Woohoo!

Another Snowbunnybella

Here is another Snowbunnybella. I got this fun Designer Paper from a new Scrapbook store in my neighboring town. Isn't it great! Bella has on her very fashionable red jacket with liquid applique on the hood and cuffs. Her boots keep her toasty especially with the liquid applique tops! How could you not be merry when you look as cute as Snowbunnybella?

I have another Bella to show you tomorrow!

He is a great young man with four children. Please...pray for our troops...they need all of our love, support, and prayers!

One quick note...you have to let this video stream a little bit before it will completely play. So, just press play and then pause it for a second. You will see a little white line go across the bottom of the video area when it has done that you are all set to go!

Snowbunnybella

Here she is...Miss Snowbunnybella! I got this Bella awhile ago and just have gotten the chance to use it today. Isn't she just the cutest thing? Anyway, I've been waiting for my Snowflake embossing folder to get here so I can try a new technique but it still hasn't arrived so I took one that I already had, used my brayer and Taffy Spectrum Pad and made my background. I then added some Frosted Lace Stickles and Liquid Pearls in White Opal and there she is. HERE is the complete listing of what I used to make this card.

I'm off to work on another Bella! Have a great night!

Gone Postal, Received, and Thank you's

The purpose of this post is so we have a place to comment and tell everyone that we've mail our Secret Angel Swap boxes to our partners, that we've received our boxes, and to say thank you! I was asked if there was a day to open the boxes and I have to say it would be when you'd like. I know I won't be able to wait!

A birthday and a Fall Fest

Several pictures for you today and only one has to do with cards. Today is my oldest son's 20th birthday. I can hardly believe it has been 20 years since I brought home my 7 lb 10 oz baby boy. I was only 18 and a senior in high school and wasn't really sure what I was to do. Thankfully, God was guiding me even though I didn't know it and now,20 years later, I have a wonderful son who is a sophomore at CWU studying history and then on to get his teaching certificate. It is his hearts desire to teach history to high school aged kids. I know he can achieve it! He has a great sense of humor, has run for our city counsel, and is just all around a great person (notice I didn't say kid!)! I love you, Scott, and I'm SO proud of you! So, that is a picture of Scott on the left and on the right is a picture of the card I made him. Note...those are root beer bottles on the card! LOL!

Next are a couple of pictures of the Wild West Fall Fest that took place at our church yesterday. While the number of kids and families that came is very low I'm still happy that I was obedient to God (He told me to make WWFF work) and only God knows how we affected the hearts of the people that attended. The other thing that was very exciting to me is that there were many volunteers that came that don't usually work with the children's ministry that came to help. To me, that is a HUGE success!

I hope you all had a great weekend and I'll see you tomorrow!

Another Season of Joy Swap Card

Good Saturday morning! This will be a short post as I MUST go get in the shower and get ready for the Fall Fest at church today. Anyway, both pictures are the same card but a front and inside view. This was made by Janice Przybyla and is a card made with an acetate sheet. I LOVE the look of these cards. I believe the DP and card stock colors are Always Artichoke and Whisper White. I'm going to guess that she used a White Stazon pad for the snowflakes. Do you see the fun jewel on the tree? HERE is a tutorial for acetate cards. This is just a great card, Janice!

I hope you all have a super fantastic Saturday! Tomorrow...I will be the mom to a 20 year old boy. Yikes! I can hardly believe it! 20 years...where has the time gone?

Season of Joy Swap Cards

Okay, everyone be prepared to love the next couple of days worth of cards!

See! I told ya they are great! The best part about this swap is that there is little explanation as to what the participants used...LOL! It is all the same set just different layouts and accessories and such! Oh, and the cards are in the order that my computer saved them.

Okay, so the first card is by Carol Valentine. She used Purely Pomegranate and Wild Wasabi as her main colors. And of course you see that most gorgeous Pomegranate stitched ribbon! Yummy!

The second card is by Paula Oesch and utilizes the fun "Z" fold that I showed you with my Hanna card a few days ago. I believe she used paper from the Winterbright designer paper and some yummy Soft Sky stitched ribbon. I love the brad accents she used too!

Tomorrow or Sunday, I believe you'll see at least one card with the snowflake from the Season of Joy set. Amazing how versatile this set is!

Have a great Friday everyone! I'm super busy today...and tomorrow even more busy so I hope that I'm able to post but I'm not entirely sure.

SECRET ANGEL SWAP

If you have joined the Secret Angel Swap please be sure I have your snail mail address and e-mail address by tomorrow (NOV 2) or I cannot include you in this swap. Thanks!

The Neighborhood Robot

I just have to show you Kyler dressed up in his costume! He was so awesome and EVERYONE (I do mean everyone) commented on how much they liked his costume. One neighbor lady even took his picture! Neat, huh? Okay, actually that made me kinda nervous but Todd said to let her do it so I did. Kyler and Todd made it together. Last year we made his costume too...he was I-90 with an interstate sign on his head and cars driving up his legs and arms...way cute! We get the ideas from Family Fun magazine and then go from there. We have found, though, that it costs just as much to make a costume as it does to buy on BUT when you buy it...you don't get to spend time with your child in the creative process...well worth the money and time you spend on making a costume! Oh, shoot! I just noticed in the picture that you can't tell that the green rectangle thing in the middle of his chest was blinking! It is a bike light and we set it to blink fast...Kyler just loved it! Anyway, isn't he just the cutest?

Oh, and I must show you something else! After Kyler received his Pokemon frame from JoAnna he just had to make her a card and I wanted to send her a little something so we sat down together one afternoon. He made a cute card and I cut a bunch of purple ribbon for her. Well...she got her package in the mail and posted it on her blog! So go HERE to see Kyler's card and the purple ribbon! :o) He has one more card to make and he is so excited! He loves to make cards with me and we don't do it nearly enough!

Alright, if I have time later today I will show you some of the cards I received in the Season of Joy swap that I hosted on a demo only website called SUDSOL. I have been so blessed in the swap department because each swap that I have ever posted has just had beautiful artwork included and this swap is no different. I think you all will LOVE what you see!

Have a wonderful first day of November!
