Warm Winter Wishes

Good morning stamping friends! I hope you had a wonderful long weekend. I didn't get much extra accomplished this weekend but that's okay...I'm feeling pretty good right where I'm at with Christmas and such.

Today, I have two things for ya. One is the card. I loved this image the moment I saw it and thought it would make a super cute card so I whipped this up real quick. I wouldn't normally add any sort of bling on a card with a male image but I just couldn't help myself with the red/white striped hat and the hot cocoa needed to be special, right? And really...the snowflakes just wouldn't have been noticeable enough without the red centers, right? I wanted to change the color of the sentiment but just couldn't figure out how to do that in Photoshop so I had to stick with black...which I think is fine.

So, what is the second photo of? Well, a little blog candy for you. I have been creating quite a bit just recently but I haven't been showing you as some of the stuff is non-SU!. Now, I can post those items on my blog (I just can't link you up to any stores that compete with SU!) but I feel bad not being able to tell you where I got my images or products from. So...I put a poll on the right hand side of my blog. Basically it is just asking if I should post projects that aren't SU! even if I can't link you. You have until Friday at 7 p.m. to vote in the poll then come back to this post and tell me that you voted then you'll be in the running for the paper pack you see. Thanks so much for helping me be certain of what my readers would like to see...I appreciate it!

So, Mondays are a busy day for me and today is no exception so I should get moving. Have a super day everyone!

UDI Sketch Saturday

Welcome to another Utah Diva's International sketch Saturday. I'm a bit late in getting my card posted (no excuses...I honestly just forgot to pre-post it last night) but I hope you like it anyway and will take a moment to check out what the other sketch designers have done for today's sketch. Now...on with the show!

When you check out the UDI blog you'll see that it says that this was an easy sketch and I have to tell you...I didn't think so. I wasn't sure what to do with it so I looked around at different cards and came up with a couple of different ideas, put them together, added my own twist, and here you have it!

This card is definitely towards the traditional with its Real Red and Old Olive colors. I, once again, used the Delightful Decorations stamp set. I can honestly say I had no idea that I would use this set as much as I have but it just makes wonderful cards! For a little more texture I used the Petals A Plenty embossing folder for the top little bit of the card and on the bottom I used the Merry Christmas stamp for a little more interest. The rest of the card is pretty self explanatory but if you have any questions please let me know!

This weekend (including Thanksgiving) I am making 6 Christmas cards each day inn order to have as many as I'd like. Thinking about it...I'm not sure that will be enough so I may have to make a few more! They are all the same but they are still unique, cute, and I will be sharing them with you later this week.

Alright, this is it from me today. I hope you'll have some time to participate in the UDI sketch challenge today!

A Day of Thanksgiving...

Morning ladies! If you are like me you are just taking a few moments to check out blogs in between cooking all we need for our Thanksgiving dinner. Thank you for stopping by my blog today!

Today is the 3 Clovers Designs Challenge day. Our challenge is to make a Thanksgiving or Thank You card. I chose a thank you card.

This card is super easy and quick to put together. I used SU!'s Flower Fantasy Printed window sheets, Cottage Wall DSP, Thank You Kindly stamp, and some fun punches along with a little bling and tah dah...a simple but elegant thank you card!

So, what can you do for the Thanksgiving/Thank You Challenge? All you need to do is create, link it up to Kerry's blog and you've participated!

And now my blogging friends...

Three Clovers Designs: Christmas Blog Yummies!!

Hi all! You gotta go check out Kerry's blog candy. Yummy!

Three Clovers Designs: Christmas Blog Yummies!!

Utah Diva's Sketch Challenge

Morning friends! Once again I haven't stamped or posted like I've wanted to I have a bit of a stomach problem that is acting up again. It makes me want to not do anything and lots of times I give into it instead of working through...anyway, sorry about that!

Today is the Utah Divas Sketch Challenge Day. Today's sketch has a fun bonus challenge to it, too. The bonus challenge is to use window sheets. Now, I could have used one of the wonderful printed window sheets that SU! has (see examples of one set HERE and HERE) but I went with a plain window sheet and crafted a card from there.

I used the stamp set called Holy Triptych. When I don't know what something means I like to look it up and I honestly did not know what Triptych meant so...a triptych is a hinged, three-leaved tablet, written on, in ancient times, with a stylus. Huh...that makes me want to use this set in a completely different way and I will be just as soon as I can. In the meantime this card is very simple as I wanted to highlight the 3 wise men. Knowing that wise men would have probably have been men of means I used colors that they might have worn...purple, blue, and yellow.

I colored the images with my blender pen and the above mentioned stamp pads with the ink on the lid. I decided to add some gold glitter to the containers and crown and then used brushed gold and elegant eggplant cardstock to finish this card off. I do want you to know that when laying flat this card is actually all straight. To put the cards layers on I worked from the bottom up so the bottom brushed gold layer is attached to the outside bottom layer of the window sheet with the elegant eggplant on the inside then the next layer of brushed gold cardstock is attached to the back of the top layer of the window sheet with the image/elegant eggplant layers on the very top. Make sense?

I hope that you'll go and check out today's sketch...it is a very versatile one! Have a wonderful rest of your weekend everyone!

Three Clovers Designs Challenge

Morning all! I'm excited because today is Three Clovers Designs Challenge day! This weeks challenge was to make a Christmas card without traditional red and green and I think I did it!

First, you need to check out Kerry's Challenge HERE. Then you need to play along. While I'd love to tell you what products I've used for this card I can't. The majority of them are not Stampin' Up! and therefore due to the new IDA I cannot link you to them or tell you where I've gotten them. There is a hint in the color though if you are really interested in knowing.

While I know you can't really see it there is a ton of sparkle on this card. Everything below the black line has Dazzling Diamonds glitter on it and the owls eye lashes and detailing has glitter as well.

This is definitely another of the Three Clovers Designs Challenges that I love! Thanks for letting me be a part of your fun ride Kerry!

I hope your week is going well and I'll see you back here tomorrow for the week's Blogger's Challenge!

Bermuda Joy

Happy Monday! Did you have a wonderful weekend? I did! I feel like I got a lot accomplished...both in stamping and in my personal life so...yay!

A quick card for ya today with a confession. This card is completely CASE'd. I loved it so much that I wanted my stamp club to make it and I also think I'll be making some for my personal Christmas cards. This card is made with the ornaments from Delightful Decorations, the snowflake stamp from the Level 2 Hostess set called Christmas Punch, and the Winter White embossed sentiment is from Many Merry Messages. The colors are Chocolate Chip and Bermuda Bay which lends it a very fun almost retro type of look. I used Whisper White cardstock on this card but my stamp club used Shimmery White and it is beautiful! Oh, and the ornament 'hooks' are just part of a paper clip. My wonderful husband clipped them off for us...What a guy, huh?

So, today is Kyler's school conference. I'm looking forward to it as I see this as a a way to help him grow into a confident young man...he however, is not looking forward to it but I remember feeling that way as a kiddo too.

I hope that you will all make this Monday a most wonderful day and I'll see ya soon!

UDI Sketch Saturday

Happy Saturday morning to you! Today is going to be a fun day at my house as a couple of stamping friends are coming on over to make THIS Christmas planner. Yay!

Before that though I get to show you the card I made with this weeks Utah Diva's International sketch with bonus challenge! You probably can't guess the sketch 'cuz I got a little carried away...in order to make this punch art work for the sketch I had to flip the sketch on its side. I bet you can guess the bonus challenge, huh? Yep, that is right...punches! This time I made a gingerbread man...isn't he just too cute? I got the directions for this guy at the same place as the snowman so refer to THIS post for more info. For this card I used the Merry Moments Designer Series Paper pack. The sentiment is from one of the stamp sets that I've used quite a bit this winter called Sweet Season...so appropriate, huh?

Alright...go to the UDI blog HERE and check out the sketch...it is a great one that can be used in lots of ways!

In the meadow...

Good morning friends! I've been so absent from my blog recently I bet you thought I decided to stop crafting. Well, that is not the case I've just been super busy. I've started a new Dove Chocolate Discoveries business and have been working on getting bookings and such. I'm very excited about it but in no way does that mean that I will stop crafting or being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator so keep checking back to see new posts!

Today, since we are supposed to get some snow, I want to show you the punch art snowman card that we made at stamp club on Wednesday night. I would LOVE to say that I came up with this snowman idea but I did not. There is a wonderful blog called Paper Punch Addiction and Kim comes up with the neatest punch art then sells the directions for them at a very reasonable cost. So, I used the directions to make this super cute snowman with Shimmery White card stock then added some of the beautiful snowflake patterned paper from the Christmas Cocoa DSP pack. On top of the snowflake paper is a window sheet that has little snowflakes on it...it just adds to the cuteness of the whole thing. Then when I was done I decided it needed a little something else so I added the gold brads in the corners. Oh, and the 'Merry Christmas' sentiment is from the set called Christmas Greetings. I love this little set because it is an innie and outie set...a sentiment for the inside of the card and outside of the card...very convenient!

There you have it! I hope you like Mr. Snowman! Today is another run around and get things done day for me. Kyler is home from school today, too so he'll have homework to work on and he'll be packing to go to camp for the weekend. Busy day for sure but I'll be back tomorrow with my Utah Diva's International sketch card. Sometimes there is a bonus challenge attached to the card sketches and tomorrow there is a bonus challenge. I'm not telling you what it is but I will tell you that my card today has a hint on it. Wink

So, with that I'm out. Have a SUPER Friday everyone!

A Word From Senior Army Leaders

Most of you who visit my blog know that my husband is retired from the Army so you have to know that on Veterans Day that I would have to post something. The above letter is from Senior Army Leaders and especially special to me because they make an extra effort to thank NCO's for their exceptional work...Todd was an NCO and did indeed work hard. Please click on the photo to make it larger so you can read it. We have a long, strong, and proud history of military service in our families so my phone calls will be many today. I hope that, even if you don't have members of the military in your family, that you will take the time to thank a Veteran today. One other thing...please pray for our troops. They need it now more than yesterday and tomorrow more than today.

If you have or are currently serving in the military or have family members that are or have...thank you! Your service has not gone unnoticed and we love you!

Something new...

Morning friends...today something new starts on my blog. A month or so back I joined a Yahoo group called Utah Diva's International. UDI is a group of SU! demonstrators and we all share our work, advice, and stamping fun with each other through a Yahoo group and through the UDI blog. Well, earlier this week I got an e-mail asking me to be on the design team for one of their challenges...they have an inspiration challenge, a sketch challenge, and then they also have stampers that update their blog everyday. I got to choose which team I wanted to be involved with and guess which one I chose? That's right! Sketches...I do love 'em and I think they love me too! So...today is the first sketch challenge that I'm officially part of the sketch team. And a good one it is too!

My card for this sketch challenge is made with patterned paper from the Holiday Lounge Designer Series Paper pack as well as stamps from the Christmas Punch and Sweet Seasons stamp sets. The card itself is pretty self explanatory, I think but if you need any information just let me know!

You will find the sketch HERE. I would definitely encourage you to participate if you have time as this is a very versatile sketch.

Alright, that is my fun news for the day. I hope you like the card and I'll see ya soon!

Blogger's Challenge

Morning everyone. Today is Blogger's Challenge day. Today's challenge is to pick a technique and make a project with it. I am not a technique kind of gal but I decided to give it a try anyway so off to SCS I was to find just the perfect technique.

What I decided to do is the Grid Technique. HERE is a link to the directions on SCS. I figured that since I needed to make a birthday card for Scott that I'd combine the two and here is what I came up with. Scott is 22 this year...I just couldn't decide what to use as a main image so I used Lovely As A Tree and went from there. I just scored the grid marks on my Confetti Vanilla card stock, then inked up my old Canvas background stamp, sponged some extra color around the edges and that became my main image. The rest...well, I wasn't feeling very inspired so it is very simple. I had to use some hardware though as ribbon would never do on Scott's card!

Overall, I like the grid technique but probably could have been a little more creative with the overall layout of the card.

If you'd like to check out what the other bloggers have done just check out the list in my side bar and you'll be all set to go!

Also, I told you that I'd let you know who won my blog candy from Sunday's post and that is...Blogger

Heather A said...

What a great gift idea! This is something that I will do.
TFS.

Congrats Heather! I need you to e-mail me your snail mail address (click on the e-mail button at the upper left hand side of my blog) by Sunday evening.

Please don't forget about the digi image that is being sold to raise money for Henry's Memorial. More information can be found about that HERE. I'll be back tomorrow with a neat announcement!

A Tree For Henry

As you all know a friend of mine...Sarah Anderson's 3 year old son died on Monday. Little Henry was just unable to overcome a virus that made him ill last week.

I have been organizing a way to donate for a memorial for Henry. Henry loved his local zoo and visited it almost every day in the summer. As a memorial, trees will be planted there in his honor. Melissa at Pink Cat Studio has created a digital stamp to help raise funds for a tree for Henry. All proceeds from the sale of the digi stamp, minus Paypal costs, will go towards the tree. If you would like to donate towards the tree, please visit this webpage to purchase the digi stamp: http://www.pinkcatstudio.com/Digital/DigiStamps/Animals/Zoo/GiraffeAndMonkey.htm If you'd like to purchase this stamp but aren't sure what to do with a digi image please contact me and I'll do my best to explain it to you!

Another way to donate to the memorial is to print out this form and mail in your donation directly: http://www.ci.oshkosh.wi.us/Parks/PDF/MemorialTreePamphlet.pdf Please write on the form that the donation is for Sarah Anderson’s son Henry. Once all of the money is collected, a tree and location will be selected. If you have questions about the form please let me know. I will be in contact with Sarah along this memorial journey to ensure that her wishes are followed.

If you don’t know Sarah and would like to learn more about her, you may visit her blog: http://scrampinmama.blogspot.com/

Thank you for your help to raise money for a tree for Henry and please continue to pray for the Anderson family.

PS: Due to this important fundraiser I will be posting the winner of my blog candy tomorrow.

Your Hands

Sometimes, something happens and you are just shaken to your core. Some of you know that a dear friend of mine (and of a lot of us) lost her 3 year old son on Monday. No, not lost while at the store but lost as in he died. While I'm absolutely certain little Henry is in Heaven with Jesus it still leaves his family (and the rest of us) to cope with the void his death has left. Please pray for the Anderson family and remember that when our world is shaken...Heaven still stands.

A special post will be coming up on Thursday...please don't miss it.

Is it bad...

Tell me ladies...is it bad when you really like a card that you made? I absolutely LOVE this card. I love the color combo, I love the sketch from Utah Diva's International, I love the watercolor-y image, I love the sentiment, and I love the flower. Pretty much I love this card!

Do you want the deets or do you want to just admire the card? Gosh...sorry about that! I decided to take an image that seems to me to be mostly a spring/summer image (from the hostess set level 1 Of the Earth) and try to make it into something kind of fallish but fresh as well. I specifically wanted the Ruby Red of the designer series paper from the
Autumn Tradition pack and then took the rest of the colors from that pack. The card base is Elegant Eggplant, to layer the patterned paper I used More Mustard and for the image/sentiment I used Confetti White. To get the watercolor look I 'painted' the image with markers on the rubber. Then I spritzed the Confetti White cardstock with water and stamped my image directly on it. A great look and easy to do.

I also wanted to let you know that I'll be linking this card to Danni's Butterfly Challenge. This is an 'open' week which just means to make a card/project with butterflies, fairies or angels and link it up to Danni's blog HERE. Very fun...who doesn't love butterflies?

And, finally...don't forget about my blog candy! Find out all about it HERE!!

Woohoo!!!! Finally!!!!

Oh. My. Gosh!! I'm so happy to be back with you guys! I have been trying for THREE days to get signed into my blog and this morning it finally worked. I guess, from reading Bloggers known issues blog, that it was an intermittent problem with only some blogs affected but I can tell you it was FRUSTRATING!! Anyway, I'm here and I want to show you a jar that I gussied up!

This is the jar from the very first Gold Canyon Candle that I have ever burned all the way down to nothing. I was going to put it into the recycling bin when Todd asked me if I could use it for something else because he would wash it out and get absolutely everything out. I thought...sure why not? I had been wanting to try some of Stampin' Up!'s Decor Elements and when I saw the 'Jingle all the way' sentiment I knew it would be perfect. All I can say when using the Decor Elements is to read the directions. They are super easy to use, even on a rounded surface...if you re ad the directions!

Anyway, to not detract from the Decor Elements I just used a single piece of ribbon (that is in the Holiday Mini but that I can't find for the life of me!) and then used the sentiment from the stamp set Sweet Season for the lid. Very easy to do but lots of wow factor, I think!

And now...for the fun part! Since I was gone so long and since I love my readers I'm going to give away a Jingle All The Way Decor Element (not my decorated jar but a decor element for you to make your own jar)! Yep, I bought two...for this specific reason! So, what do you need to do to win...comment on this post. If you come back and comment again that you let others know about my blog candy by either e-mailing your friends (bcc: me on the e-mail) or posting a note about it on your blog you'll get a second chance to win. I'm sure I'll find something else to throw in too so...good luck! Be sure to do both of those things by Wednesday night at midnight (PST) and I'll post the winner on Thursday morning!
So there you have it! I hope you have a wonderful Sunday!
