Scrap-Creations Challenge Day

Morning everyone! Did you have a good Monday?

Today is Tuesday which is another Scrap-Creations Challenge Day. Remember you can now use any patterned paper for our challenges!

This week we were challenged to make a Halloween card. If you've been around on my blog for very long you know this was a challenge for me as I don't make much for Halloween. I do have one Stampin' Up! set with a suitable image called Card Kids. My goodness the images are adorable! I don't have much for Halloween patterned paper either so I used some retired SU! paper.

Be sure you check out the challenge HERE and then be sure to click on over to the rest of the DT's blogs...you'll find links in my side bar.

After you've done all that...have a wonderful day!

The Dani-Lorie Project

Happy Monday! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and that you finished up everything you wanted to!

Today is another installment of the Dani-Lorie Project which is when my friend, Dani, and I take turns challenging each other in our card making. This week's challenge is from Dani. She challenged me to make a birthday card with my favorite color combo. The problem is...I don't have a favorite color combo. Dani just told me to pick my favorite color and make a card with it. I love pink so I had to choose a pink. Although you can't tell because my photo is so horribly out of color I chose Rose Red. The stamp set is another of Verve's new sets called Dream Big and the sentiment is from Verve's set with purchase called Framed Wishes. I also used MFT's grass die. A few buttons and I was all set!

You know you need to jump over to Dani's BLOG to see what she made as it is always something wonderful! It is sure to be a great start to your day!

Sunday Share

A new feature to my blog will be the Sunday Share. Whether it be a clip like today's or a song that touches my heart I hope you will be touched as I share each Sunday. Really listen to what Beth Moore has to say in this short clip. Don't let the enemy send you into that spiral. Throw your self condemnation right into the trash!

Hugs and Smiles

Happy Friday everyone! Can you believe we are here already? Did you get everything done this week that you wanted?

Today's card is made with a new Verve set, Kind Words, and the I {heart} To Stamp sketch for this week. It is also fun that this paper has butterflies on it as I can enter in Danni's Flutter By Wednesdays challenge too as it is an open week. After I took the photo for this card I decided to spray it with some Smooch spitz and now it is all shimmery and pretty...love it!

I do want you to know that I'll not be posting on the weekends from now on. I need that time to work on projects for upcoming challenges and such for my week day posts.

Well, I've got tons of stuff to do today so I'm off. Have a wonderful Friday everyone!

All Who Are Weary

Morning friends...can you believe our week is almost gone already? Wow!

I got a little time in my stamp room yesterday afternoon and made this card for someone that I know is very weary and needs much rest, actually I know several people that feel that way right now. I did, of course, use a sketch from a sketch challenge, this one being from Taylored Expressions. The sentiment is one of Verve's wonderful scripture stamps and the paper from Cosmo Cricket's Earth Love. I already know what I want to write inside so that is why I used patterned paper in the circles that represent movement. I'm sure you know where I'm going with that. To be honest I'm not sure my clear heart buttons are appropriate for this card but I felt the need to add them.

Just one week until the fair/rodeo are in town and then we start school. I know...that is late, huh? Anyway, have a wonderful Thursday!

School is Cool!

Morning friends! Before I go to far into my post for today I have to say happy birthday to my dad! Happy Birthday dad...I hope you have a wonderful day! HUGS!

Okay, today's card was made for the two challenges that Katie Skiff had on her blog for her Back To School Blog Party challenge. She has a wonderful sketch challenge on her blog and a color challenge as well which is bashful blue (didn't quite use bashful blue but...), real red, and early espresso. I used some A Muse stamps from their school release last year (I believe) and since I was using A Muse I thought I'd use their quick and clean style as well.

I already have a recipient in mind for this card so it will go off in the mail soon. Well, I think that is it for today. I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday planned. See ya soon!

Going Grey with Scrap- Creations

Good morning! Welcome to a late post but a post none the less considering I didn't think I'd get done with my card today at all.

Today I have some news to share about the Going Grey with Scrap-Creations challenges. After much consideration, we have decided as a team to change the designer paper rule. As of today, you are allowed to use whatever DESIGNER PAPER you choose! Of course we LOVE BG, but this is no longer the requirement!!!!! Now, onto the challenge...

Challenge #24: Recipe Challenge: Ribbon, Flowers,Brads or pearls.

This week we have a Fabulous sponsor for you....SASSY CHERYL ! I have looked at Cheryl's images before and never bought any just because I thought they would be too difficult to color...I was SO wrong. This little cutie was a pleasure to color and has so much character and cuteness! My image is called Close Up Artist. Cheryl is offering $5.00 GC to the winner of this weeks challenge! Oh, and I did use a sketch from a fun blog that I found called Truly Scrumptious (is anyone else singing that song from Chitty, Chitty, Bang Bang?).

Be sure to take the time to visit the rest of the DT's blogs as ALL of their creations are SUPER cute!

Final Sketch Challenge Card

Happy weekend! It is supposed to be 80 degrees and sunny here today, it should be a lovely day! Smiley from millan.net

Well, you've made it back to see my final Anni-Verve-sary sketch card. This one is a super simple but bright and fun birthday card. We have a couple of August birthdays so the timing was perfect to make another birthday card.

I got a letter from Jon yesterday where he told me that I could find a photo of him on Facebook so I looked it up and how and behold...there he was! He decided to go to church and it is there where the photos were taken. Yay for church and photos! Obviously that was the highlight of my Friday. Last night I also went to a Lia Sophia party. That was really quite fun and I like the party style. Very easy going and easy to win free jewelry...gotta like that! I am having a party in September so if there is anything you'd like let me know and I'll send you an e-vite!

Well, that is it for today. I hope you all have a wonderful, productive weekend! See ya Monday!

Our prayers...

Happy Friday friends! I'm so glad the weekend is almost here...how about you?

Well, here is another Verve Anni-Verve-Sary sketch card. I used all Verve stamps on this card. The set is called Petals & Stems and is one of the first Verve sets I bought. I'm looking forward to some of the new flowers that Verve will be coming out with tonight! The butterfly and the flower have a little glitter to them but I didn't want to go over the top with it.

Tomorrow will be the last Verve sketch card and it is a brighter, more fun birthday card so I hope you'll be back to see it!

Have a wonderful Friday!

Another Verve Sketch Card

Morning friends. I know you are wondering (if you aren't on Facebook) what my news was yesterday and well, my aunt died very unexpectedly. While I was not particularly close to her I am worried about how this will affect my grandpa so please keep him in your prayers.

As you can tell today's sketch was used for a birthday card. What I really like about this card is the, at least for me, not used much colors. I've used Pacific Point and Cajun Craze. The stars background "paper" was made with Verve's set called Seeing Stars and the birthday sentiment is from a SU! set.

This card is out in the mail already to Todd's dad. Make today a great day and HUG your loved ones!

Delight In The Lord

Morning friends. It is Wednesday, the middle of the week. How has your week gone so far? I just got some unexpected news that I'm not ready to share just yet but I will in a couple of days. Still thought I'd show you a card real quick though.

This card is for the Verve Stamps Anni-Verve-sary sketch challenges. I have three of the five sketches finished and hope to get to another today. They all need to be done by Friday at 5 p.m. (my time) so I'm feeling good about it.

Sorry about the not so nice photo...I'm getting frustrated with how hard it is for me to get a good photo in my stamp room.

Okay, guys...that is it for today. I'll be back with another card tomorrow. Oh, and my friend Katie is doing a Back To School Blog Party...go check it out HERE!

Going Grey with Scrap- Creations

And here we are at Going Grey with Scrap Creations Tuesday...yay!

I cut into some newly acquired Olivia Basic Grey paper for today's challenge and it is SO lovely. Our sponsor this week is Digital Delights by Louby Lou. I LOVE when they are our sponsor as their images are SO cute!

Anyway, I used Princess Shona...isn't she just adorable? I used my MFT rolled flower die for the first time and it is SO easy and completely impressive, right? The Princess has a pearl necklace and the flowers have white pearls in the centers. Now...what you can't see is all the smooch that was used. Anything green on her clothing is shimmery as well as anything white on the floral background. It really is a pretty, shimmery card in real life! I must mention that my layout is from Verve's Anni-Verve-sary sketch challenges. FUN! And I just noticed that the Basic Grey Challenge this week is Pearls! This card works for that, too! Yay!

Alright...go check out what the other DT members have to show...they are all so talented!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone!

The Dani-Lorie Project

Happy Monday everyone! Can you believe the weekend has come and gone already? Wow! I hope you got everything accomplished that you wanted!

Today is another edition of the Dani-Lorie Project. You know...it is when Dani and I take turns choosing a challenge. Well, it was my turn to choose this week and I chose no pattern paper. Now, really...what was I thinking. Seriously, just go back and look at my previous posts...I'll wait...SEE!?! I used patterned paper on almost every card I make! For me, no patterned paper means a clean and simple card. I think this card would qualify for that but the simple part...yeah, no. I spent forever on this card getting it the way I wanted.

Beyond the Dani-Lorie Challenge this also works for three others (I know...crazy!). First, the clean & simple sketch for the week, next Flutter By Wednesday (it is an open week), and finally Wee Memories which is Buttons, Brads, and Bling. While you can see the Tiny Twinkles on the card and butterfly you cannot see that the wings are completely glittered up. Love those at you Spica pens!

Make sure you head over to Dani's BLOG to see what she made...I know it will be wonderful and while you are at it make it an incredible day!

Where have I been?

Morning everyone! I'm not sure if you noticed or not but I was gone for 9 days and just arrived home on Wednesday. It was a long trip of 3944 miles in the car but the reason for it is shown in my first photo. I'll tell you about our trip in the photos below. The photos are quite large...sorry it took so long to load them!
We went to Iowa this summer so that we could visit with my grandpa. Not sure if you know it or not but he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer about 6 weeks ago and has chosen not to take treatments for it. I wanted to be able to visit with him before he got too sick. My grandpa means the world to me and is my mom's dad.
This is my grandpa and his wife, Fern. My grandma died in 1996 and grandpa was blessed to have found a wonderful wife in Fern. It was a match suggested and blessed by my grandma before she died!
This is grandpa and my oldest son Scott and is a photo of something we did a lot of in Iowa, eat. My goodness Fern is an excellent cook and we just couldn't not taste everything now could we?
While in Iowa Fern asked me to help make the memory board for grandpa's celebration of life. I was honored to do it. I couldn't do all of it though as they didn't have all the photos they wanted to use but above is the photo of the section I did that showed details about his Honor Tour.
And it wasn't all just driving, we made a couple of stops along the way, Mt. Rushmore being one of them. I have been there four times now and the beauty astonishes me every time. Kyler didn't remember our last trip to Mt. Rushmore so we had to stop this time. Also, we met one of the original drillers that worked on Mt. Rushmore in the late 1930's. We took a photo with him and had him sign the book he wrote...very cool addition to this stop!

So, there you have it...what I've been up to. Thank you for visiting today and looking at the photos. This trip was very special and I loved every moment but it was a very sad goodbye the day we left.

I doubt I'll be back before Monday so I hope you have an absolutely wonderful weekend!

Going Grey with Scrap- Creations

And here we are at another week of Going Grey Challenges with Scrap-Creations! I love this day of the week...can ya tell?

This week's challenge is to make a back to school card. I know...you are thinking, this is back to school? Well, here is the thing...I love to encourage my kids when it comes to school so rather than make a traditional back to school card I decided to make a card that I could give to Kyler on the first day of school to remind him that I love him and that he is SO going to rock his 7th grade year! The Basic Grey paper that I used is called Archaic and the "you rock" sentiment is an Archaic rub-on....fun, huh? Oh, the notebook piece of paper is from the Basics Manila Paper pad. That sweet image? A Pure Innocence image from MFT. Doesn't that boy look a bit like my Kyler? SO CUTE!

Alright everyone...hope on over to Kristen's blog HERE to check out the challenge and play along. Don't forgot to check out my fellow DT member's cards by clicking on their names from my side bar!

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Thank you...

Morning everyone! Just a quick card to show you this morning. Remember that Dani-Lorie Project challenge from earlier this week? Well, this is the reject card.

This image is from a set that I bought from Dani. The image is from an {ippity} set called Devoted. I love how simple and pretty this card is.

Not much to say today but I hope that you are enjoying your weekend!

Going Grey with Scrap- Creations

Morning friends! Welcome to another week of Going Grey Challenges with Scrap-Creations. This week it was an extra special privilege to get to work with our sponsor's, Kenny K, digi images and the images are SO cute! Check them out HERE.

You know I have to have a boy image and you know that we love football at our house so what other image could I possibly have chosen? Once I printed the image the size I wanted I started to think how I was going to color it and what Basic Grey paper I was going to use and that is the exact moment I thought I had made a mistake on my choice of image. Basic Grey, with a few exceptions, doesn't really make a lot of male friendly paper so I was starting to panic. Do, what I did is take out each pad of paper separately and look through the different patterns. I found this stripe and what ever you would call the other pattern in the Marrakesh paper pad. I kinda thought the round elements could look like stadium lights...yes, no? Maybe? Anyway, I made the sentiment with a JustRite stamper and put my football player into a practice uniform. I actually really like this card!

Now I know you want to join in on this challenge so head on over to Kristen's blog HERE to find all the information!

Have fun!

The Dani-Lorie Project

Hello everyone! Welcome to installment number two of the Dani-Lorie Project. I don't know if you remember but two weeks ago I introduced that my friend, Dani, and I have decided to challenge each other every other week and post what we come up with to our blogs. I think it will be a wonderful way to keep us stamping...which if you didn't notice didn't go to well for me last week and won't for the next couple of weeks, sorry!

It was Dani's turn to choose the challenge and she chose Floral Silhouette. What?!? I wasn't sure what to do with it so...I made a card and it wasn't this one. This is my second try as my first card wasn't a floral but a leaf silhouette. Ugh! I do like the results of my 2nd card though. It is all SU! and I'm going to use it as an anniversary card.

Alright...be sure to check out what the fabulous Dani did for her card HERE.

I'll see you tomorrow for the Going Grey challenge!
