With Heartfelt Sympathy

I had an occasion to make another sympathy card the other day.  I grabbed an old SU! set that I've had for ages as I like the flowers on this one.  I then searched for a sketch that would work and tweaked it just a bit.  Using some old designer series paper the card came together pretty quickly.
The stamp set doesn't come with butterflies but the white space was driving me crazy so I punched some out and added them.  I'm pretty pleased with how this one came out (could have made the sympathy sentiment panel a little smaller but...) and I'm sure the family will appreciate that we thought of them.

Not much going on today...hubby is still recuperating from his surgery and I'm sure that is going to take awhile.  I'm staying close by until after his follow up doctor appointment tomorrow and depending on what the doc says then I'll start back into my regular routine and he will have to find something to occupy himself with for a few weeks until he can go back to work.  I love having him home but he can be hard to keep down!  LOL!!

Anyway, have a beautiful day everyone!  Smiley from Millan.Net

It's almost birthday time...

Hello all!  It is almost time for a birthday in my family so I had to make a card...obviously!  Hopefully he won't read this blog post but this card is for my middle son, Jon.  He is going to be...wait for it...23 on Feb 27th.  Crazy, right?  I know!  Since he doesn't live in the same town as us anymore I needed to get my card done early (early for me at least) so I could get it in the mail and get it to him on time.

As any boy in his 20's does my son loves pizza and soda, Mtn Dew to be specific so I made my soda can in Mt. Dew colors (thought I'm not sure that is entirely clear that is what I was trying to do) and added a couple of hearts 'cuz we love him sooooo much!  I noticed the the 'birthday' letters are a bit crooked so I guess I should have made them wonky on purpose...lol!  Eh, either way I think he'll like this!  The pizza, soda and hearts svg files are from SVG Cutting Files and the happy birthday I just found on my computer.  I use AC Cardstock when I cut files like this on my Cricut with SCAL2.

Inside I just stamp somed candles and a 'Make a Wish!' sentiment.  I think this card is definitely good to go out in the mail tomorrow!  Yay!

A couple of our friends/acquaintances have had losses so I'll be making a few more sympathy cards here in the next couple of days, too.

I hope you have had a great weekend!  Remember to follow my blog to get notifications of when I post and I love your comments too!

Valentine's Day 2015

Yay!  I can finally share my Valentine's projects!  I hope you love them as much as I do!  Almost all files were FREE files from the SVG Cutting Files blog hop last week...I Smiley from Millan.Net them all!

This Care Bear box is for my Daughter-In-Love.
Pichu is for my youngest son.
The Hershey's Kiss (which was filled with hershey's kisses) is for my oldest son.
This Pooh Bear Box is for my grandson.
And I made this card for my hubby.  I just couldn't help myself!  The mustach 'thing' has always made me giggle!
My hubby loves Hot Tamales so I altered this PB jar and filled them with HT's with plenty more to come (I bought a HUGE bag at Costco!).

And here is a stack of boxes.  I seriously felt really good about what I did this year!  I hope you had a lovely day, too!

Don't Worry....

Happy Friday!  Ready for Valentine's Day?  I think I am!  Before I show you that tomorrow, though, I'm sharing a card I made with The Stamps of Life monthly stamp set.  Do you love kitties, then this is sure to be a fav!
This one is pretty simple but super cute with the kitty sitting there smiling at ya!  I went with the same paper that I was telling you about yesterday only a more fun (and maybe a little psychedelic) patterned paper this time!

Not much more for ya today but I hope you have a wonderful Friday and I'll see ya tomorrow!

Pet Sympathy

Hello!  Yes, I have been creating (quite a bit actually) but as you'd guess lots of things are for Valentine's Day so I'll share those on Saturday (they turned out great!).  Today I thought I'd share the card I made for my son's girlfriend whose dog had cancer and they had to let her go this last week.  She is, understandably, very sad so I hope she will find some comfort in this card.

I actually wish I would have made this a little more whimsical as she is a 20 something but it is the thought that counts, right?  I do love this sketch...it's from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps and I can enter it in the challenge as it is open to all images.  Speaking of images, yes I once again used the PTI Sympathy set with the companion pet set.  I had all the paper laying around forever so I just picked it up and went with it.  I'm trying to just use what I have as I have SO much so you may see some really old supplies in the future!!

I'll be back tomorrow with a card that uses The Stamps of Life's new kitty set...so cute!  Then Saturday I'll show you my Valentine's projects...I think you'll really like them...just know I used my Cricut a lot and SVG's from the SVG Cutting Files recent blog hop (the freebie files are incredible and, unfortunately for those who didn't get them, no longer available).

Where have I been?

I know!  Where have I been?  I have been busily working on helping put together, and then making it go off without (much) of a hitch, the silent auction portion of the fundraising dinner for the youth of our church that are going to Peru on a mission trip this August.  It was work but so worth it!  Check it out...

One of the ways we raised money was by selling tickets for a chance to win this Seahawks, one of a kind, handmade quilt.  It was very successful!
Here is one section of the silent auction tables.  We had everything from homemade chocolate chip cookies (which went for about $12 a doz!!) to a large rocking jeep to dinners for 8 or more people (the dinners went anywhere from $85 to $225!!).  Our church members are VERY generous!
We had a packed room and actually had to set up three additional tables for our guests!!
These are the adult and teen members of the mission team.  Actually you can't see several of the kids in this photo.  There are 10 people going total.
And here is the super excited and happy winner of the Seahawks quilt!  I love that someone who will truly appreciate it won!!  I gotta tell you...I go to an amazing church.  Our youth director, Chris, is so dedicated to our kids and our members are so supportive both within the church and outside of it, too!

Now that the auction is done I will have more time to get back to creating...I've got one Valentine project almost finished and have four more to go...eeks!!

Thank you!

Good morning friends!  Have you ever been driving down the road thinking about a card that you need to make and Bam! right then and there you have an idea for it?  Well, that happened to me today.  I knew I wanted to make a thank you card, I knew I wanted to use the Bee Stamps of Life set and I knew I wanted to use the stair step card die...from there it was pretty open.  What happened after I got home will amaze you!  (hahaha...have you seen that type of phrasing on Facebook?  Too funny!)

I had originally planned to have bees flying around instead of flowers but that just didn't work and the flowers give me a spot for the thank you.  The flowers are also inspired by the front of the stair step card die envelope.  I honestly love this card and it will be very tough giving it away.  All the papers are from an old TE kit.

Seriously...I love this card!  Hope you are having a wonderful week!

Life is like a camera...

Focus on what's important & you'll capture it perfectly.  Isn't that sentiment just wonderful?  It fits in perfectly with my Word for the year too (intentional)!

I was feeling super sunny and a bit retro when I made this card, I guess.  I do love it though as it makes me smile!  This time I decorated the inside a little bit, too.  I feel like that relieves a little pressure on what to write and how much plus...it just looks great!  I know exactly who this card is going to and I know she will love it!  She is always so selfless and is a person to try aspire towards.

Oh, I forgot to tell you...this card is made with The Stamps of Life camera2stamp set and, of course, the dies that match.  I used an old Sweet Sunday sketch and some retired SU! paper to bring it all together.

Well, that is it for today!  I hope you have a wonderful day today!  I get to spend some time with my grandson so I know it will be wonderful!  :)

Memories you cherish...

I had a need for a sympathy card recently so I made two rather than just one...it makes it easier next time, ya know.  I almost always default back to the PTI set With Sympathy because I can make easy yet lovely cards with it.  There are also two companion sets specifically for cards when making them for those who have lost pets and children (haven't had to use that one so far thank God!).  Anyway, here they are...

Yes, they are basically the same card just two different orientations and the flowers are slightly different.  I like them both though really prefer the smaller flowers...wish I would have used those first.  Ah, well, right?  I doubt the person receiving the card will care.  .

Here is to not needing the other card anytime soon!  I hope you have a joy filled day!

The key to a great day...

...is a happy heart.

Not only does is that sentiment totally true but it makes a super cute card when combined with the dies from the heartlocket2love set from The Stamps of Life.

I really wanted this card to be a fun, happy one and I think these papers did it perfectly.  I did not decorate the inside of the card as I want to write a little letter (so to speak) to the senior that I angel.

Tomorrow the February Stamp of Life stamp of the month is revealed and I'm so excited because not only am I a stamp of the month member but also a die club member which means I get the matching dies with the stamp set!  Yay!  Wanna check it out..go here.  (Oh, oh, oh!  I just went to TSOL website...the new monthly stamp set is up and available to view!  Please get here soon set/dies...I have the perfect person to send a card to using that set!! Go check it out!!)

Alright, I hope to be back soon with more cards and scrapbook pages to share!  Have a wonderful day!
