Cast Your Cares...

Some of you may know that I facilitate a ladies Bible study on Tuesday nights. Well, this last Tuesday morning I got an e-mail from the church office telling me that one of the ladies that attends the study, Nancy, wouldn't be there that evening as she was sick and didn't have the strength to come (plus she didn't want us to get sick). I thought hmmm...since I needed to get my BVC08 piece done I would just make it with Nancy in mind and the group could send her a little get well card. Having had Nancy in Sunday school class last year I knew that I wanted to use the PaperTrey Ink set called Everyday Blessings. I pulled it out, looked at the verses that came with it, and decided on the one that you see on the right. I think it is perfect for a get well card. I also tried to add some additional color to this card but honestly...I think the monochromatic look of this card is perfect...very soothing. Anyway, I hope that she liked it as she should have gotten it yesterday. Oh, I forgot to tell you that it is a 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 card.

On a personal note, my dad called last night to let me know that my grandfather (to whom I'm very close) who went for a cath test was admitted to the hospital. First, he started bleeding during the test and they couldn't stop it right away and then, he will have to have a quadruple bypass. Two arteries are 99% blocked and two are 76% blocked. My grandpa did call but I was at church so I didn't get to talk with him myself. Heart 2 I will be calling this morning though to at least talk with his wife. Please, please, please be praying for him, the doctors, and all the hospital staff for a great surgery and quick recovery. He is 82 so I'm not sure how much that will play into things but prayer works so thank you for praying!

TGIF! Have a great day!

What a fun day!

What a great birthday Kyler had! He started with breakfast with grandma and grandpa who then dropped him off at school. I had forgotten to get or make something for him to take to share with his friends at school so Todd stopped and got some Spider-Man snacks at the store and dropped them off for him. His class sang him Happy Birthday while he was at the board and I'm told that made him embarrassed as did the baby picture on my blog yesterday...oops! When he got home he did all his homework straight away so that he didn't have to do any reading before bed. He just played and played in the afternoon. The kids get to choose what they have for their birthday dinners and he wanted Mexican (I couldn't believe he didn't choose pizza!). When we asked him what he wanted from the Mexican place he said nachos so we suggested we could make them at home and it would be just as yummy. So that is what we did. Todd is, usually, a genius in the kitchen and we all had individual portions of melted cheese and we could add taco meat, black olives, and salsa to if we wanted. Then we just had our favorite tortilla chips with it...SO stinkin' yummy! Lastly, well...lastly he played with his toys for awhile but before that we had cake. A Spider-Man cake. Very yummy! Thank you for all your wonderful birthday wishes for Kyler yesterday he very much appreciated them!

The card I made for him is above. It isn't super fancy but I was told he loves it when I make his card so I think he was happy with it...in as much as opening it allowed him to get onto opening presents! The designer paper is Basic Gray's Cupcake. Interestingly enough there are no sheets with cupcakes on them...weird! Green being his favorite color is why I chose a green base and the two green pennants for the number 10. The stamp set is PaperTrey Ink's It's A Celebration. That is really a fun set to use! It certainly is a busy card, huh?

Well, the kiddos will be up soon so I need to get moving. Have a super Thursday! See you all tomorrow!

What 10 Years Can Do

What can 10 years do? It can change a baby into a tweenager. It can show you that your heart really has the capacity to love more. 10 years can mature you more than you ever thought possible. It has been a very fast 10 years since Kyler was born and I know if I blink he will be a senior in high school (I just cried at the thought of that...breathe, Lorie, breathe) and graduating.
HAPPY 10TH BIRTHDAY KYLER! Happy Birthday 8
Kyler was 9 lbs 8 oz when he was born. You can see it on his pudgy little face. He was also a demanding little thing and, much like now, loved his mom. All in all I wouldn't change a thing about the time when he was little.

And here he is just a week or two ago. He loves all things Spider-Man. His birthday party is planned as Spider-Man and he is hoping for some really neat Spider-Man gifts. He is skinny and lanky just like his dad was. He has a wicked sense of humor. He loves Jesus so much. Is one of the most compassionate, kind and loving 10 year olds I have ever met and as we now know...he is very brave too! Speaking of brave. Kyler is doing very well. He did stay home from school yesterday just to give him an extra day to bounce back from Monday but he's off to school today...that is after his birthday breakfast with grandma Nancy and papa Al. We love you so much Kyler!

You all have a great day and I'll see you tomorrow!

Another Baby Card

So this is the card I had in my head the other day that I didn't get the chance to make. I know that it is really nothing special but I think it is cute and will be appreciated anyway. You can see HERE everything that I used to make this card. The thing I like the most that you can't really see in the picture and that is the Clear Glitter Pen on the hearts. It is quite sparkly in real life.

I'm excited because I have a Stampin' Up! order coming tomorrow. Mostly it is paper but I'm also getting the super cute Tart & Tangy set that everyone is doing fun stuff with! Yay! Strawberry

So this post is short and sweet today. Kyler will be up soon and I'll see how he is feeling. He was so exhausted last night when he went to bed. Anyway, I hope you all have a super fantastic Tuesday!

Hooah!

Hooahs and high fives all around! The root canal's are all done and my son is probably the most brave boy I've ever seen! Seriously...he did just amazing! I think it was all the prayer and good thoughts that everyone had for us! Thank you so much!
