The Stamping Boutique

PCP The Stamping Boutique Digi Day
With a special guest: Fresh Brewed Designs
Theme: Holiday Sweets
April and her family have started a family tradition of making Christmas cookies each year from scratch with our kids. They sit and look and look over recipes to find some new ones to go along with the ones we use every year. She doesn't like to cook but does love to bake, especially around the holidays and it's such a really really nice treat to give out some homemade goodies in homemade containers and such so that is our theme this month!
You are being given a TSB FREEBIE of a recipe card. My challenge to you (and we will have some prizes for winners) is to decorate and add your favorite holiday sweets recipe to your card and bring it along to share with everyone. Sounds like fun right? I thought so too! ;)

Where: The Stamping Boutique Forum on PCP
When: Dec. 4th 3-5pm
What to Bring: your recipe cards decorated and filled out with your favorite holiday sweet
What to expect: Freebies, new recipes for your holiday baking, fellow crafters to chat with, 4 challenges....yes 4 challenges this month because we have joined up with Fresh Brewed Designs for this digi day and so Heather is going to do 2 challenges (with 2 freebies of her own design during digi day) and then I will be doing 2 challenges (with 2 freebies from TSB during digi day). So you do NOT want to miss this digi day!!!

So Grateful For You

Well, it is the day before Thanksgiving...are you ready to go yet? I have to tell you that when we first moved to Washington I had never made a turkey myself. The kids and I had always gone to a relatives house for Thanksgiving that only necessitated a side dish. While that was nice and easy I have to say that I really enjoy the fulfillment that I get from having made the entire meal myself...okay, not myself, Todd helps (a lot) but you get the idea. This year we are making a turkey breast rather than an entire turkey since it will just be four of us. Smiley from millan.net Should make prep much easier. Today I will write out my schedule of cooking for tomorrow, make my pecan pie, and do a little cleaning. Should be a busy day! OH! And, I get to watch my friends little guy today. He is 10 months old and just adorable. I can't wait!

Alright, enough of my blah, blah, blahing! Today, I have a clean and simple card for you that is based off the CAS sketch card that Lori Tecler did on SCS. I did cut my card into kinda an odd shape so that the circle could come off the side a little without being to large to fit into a regular size envelope. Anyway, the image is another from The Stamping Boutique and it is AJ the Pilgrim. Isn't he just adorable? I just used some Tangerine Tango cardstock for the base, embossed it a bit, added some ribbon and voila! Super easy and conveys a heartfelt message.

Just a little note for you guys...The Stamping Boutique is offering 35% off its images this week so hop on over there to purchase the images you've been wanting!

Alright, that is it! I will be back tomorrow with a Thanksgiving funny so if you have a chance in between all that yummy food stop on back!

Going Grey with Scrap- Creations

Well, it is winter where I live! As I type this (Monday afternoon) it is snowing like crazy and drifting too. I'm also laughing because my little dog is whining and barking like she owns the place 'cuz she wants out of her kennel...I want her to dry off a little first! LOL!

Anyway, today is another edition of Going Grey with Scrap-Creations. Today's challenge is to use blue, white, and silver on our creations. I decided to use a super cute The Stamping Boutique image called Natalie.

Since I didn't really have any patterned paper that would work for this I decided just to emboss it with my snowflake embossing folder, do some layering (the white is Shimmery White) and I thought the icicle edge would be cute, too. I used a sky blue at you Spica pen for glitter as well as a silver fine point painty pen too. As you can tell I also decided to use some Liquid Applique on what I thought the puffy parts of her outfit would be. I love the dimension it gives the card. And, I just remembered that I used a sketch challenge too which is right HERE.

I thought I'd dress up the inside with more shimmery white and snowflakes. Can I just say that I love this card. I can't wait to send it out!

So, hop on over to the DT blogs (as can be found in my sidebar) to check out all the blue, white, and silver goodness then make a card of your own and link it up HERE. This card also works for the Pollycraft Challenge which is feeling blue, the winter theme at Stampin' for the Weekend, use a snowflake at Stampin' B's, snowflakes at 2 Sisters Challenge Blog, snowflakes at Totally Paper Crafts, and snow at Easy Craft Projects.

Have a wonderful day friends!

Critter Sketch Challenge Day!

Welcome to Monday everyone! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and got lots and lots of "stuff" done!

Today I get to share a card that I made for the Critter Sketch Challenge Blog challenge for the week. This week's challenge is "food." Yep, just make something with food. Our sponsor for the month is Stamp and Create. I will just remind you what a fun store they are with lots of different stamp companies represented and a wonderful clearance section. I got this Kraftin' Kimmie stamp from Stamp and Create. I have been wanting a Kraftin' Kimmie stamp so I was thrilled to get this cutie with the cupcakes...perfect for this week's challenge!

I must say that it was really nice to make a card that wasn't fall or Christmas. As much as I love those holiday's the happy colors and cupcakes on this card make me smile!

Anyway, I hope you will check out what the other designers have done by going HERE and more than that I hope you will play along with our challenge!

Have a super, wonderful Monday everyone! Only 3 more days 'til yummy food...woohoo!

Sunday Share

Good morning! I have a fun share for you today. This video shows a Random Act of Culture but those that are a little younger call it a "flash mob." I just love the thought of shopping in a store where everyone starts singing all of a sudden. Not only do they start singing but they sing one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written (in my opinion). Press play and enjoy!

Tissue Holder

Good morning friends! Long time, no post. I'm home from my little trip to the midwest and while I went for the purpose of going to my grandpa's services I still had a good time. I stayed at my dad and his wife's house (Hi Eva!) and it felt good to have a warm, inviting place to go at the end of what seemed like really long days. Thank you, again, Eva for your hospitality!

I didn't think I had anything to share with you guys so I hadn't been posting but then I remembered I at least have this cute tissue holder to show you. My friend, Kristine, from Ink Something 2 made some beautiful holders and inspired me to at least try it. While mine is not the caliber of Kris's I still really like it and it works perfectly in my stamp room! I used papers from last months Key Ingredients Kit from Taylored Expressions (love those things!).

I'm not sure when I'll be back with more crafting goodness but I'll try and stop in on the weekend. I know on Monday I get to share a Critter Sketch Challenge card with ya so I'll for sure be back then.

Have a great Thursday everyone!Smiley from millan.net

Veterans Day 2010

Veterans Day originated as "Armistice Day" on Nov. 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and Nov. 11 became a national holiday beginning in 1938. Veterans Day is not to be confused with Memorial Day--a common misunderstanding, according to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Memorial Day (the fourth Monday in May) honors American service members who died in service to their country or as a result of injuries incurred during battle, while Veterans Day pays tribute to all American veterans--living or dead--but especially gives thanks to living veterans who served their country honorably during war or peacetime.

You all know I have two favorite soldiers in my life...my husband who is retired Army after 22 years of service and my son who has just begun his service in the Army.

Be sure that today and everyday when you see a solider, sailor, Marine, or airman that you thank them for their service. Did you know less than 1% of the population of the US volunteers to serve their country? That's right so you know they love their country!

De Lovely Birthday

Good morning friends! Shield your eyes from this super bright card today or maybe it will brighten your gray, cloudy day?

This is a birthday card that I made for my friend Jen's birthday. I got to take her to lunch yesterday and while the time was too short I enjoyed every moment of chatting with her!

A little about the card. The image is from The Stamping Boutique's Cynthia line and she is called Lazy Cynthia. I figured this is what Jen should do on her birthday...ignore the laundry and maybe read a good book (but I think she will be sewing)! The papers are all from Cosmo Cricket's DeLovely line. And I, of course, used a sketch challenge...this one from the The Sweet Stop challenge blog. While I don't play along there very often I do love their sketches!

Well, I hope this card brightened your day! I'll probably be absent for a few days as I'm off to spend some time with family celebrating my grandpa's life. So glad I can rely on my husband to hold the fort down and take care of everything here!

Going Grey with Scrap- Creations

It's Tuesday! Did you make it through your Monday okay? My day was pretty darn busy but I'm here...yay!

Today's Scrap-Creations challenge is a Christmas card. Now, I was not really in a Christmas mood so I decided to go with more of a winter slant. This week's sponsor is Stamp Fairy...a brand new company in town. The images I have seen, including this one, are super cute! I recently downloaded this snow globe hanger SVG from Cely and decided to try it out with this image and overall it is super cute!

I have seen my design team sister's creations and they are wonderful so make sure that you go check them out!

I'm entering this one into the Crazy 4 Challenges challenge for this week which is make a square card.

Critter Sketch Challenge Monday

Happy Monday everyone! Did you have a wonderful weekend? Mine was pretty good except that we took Jon to the airport on Saturday and he is now at his first duty station, Alaska. It is certainly hard saying goodbye but he is doing what he's always wanted so good for him!

Anyway, onto today's card. This is my first Monday of the month for the Critter Sketch Challenge. This month's sponsor is Stamp and Create. You really should go check them out. They have tons of different stamps and a great clearance area too! This week's challenge on their blog is Dragons (and so is ours so you can put your card in for both challenges!) so I just had to use a dragon on my card. Isn't he ADORABLE? I thought this little guy would be super cute on a baby card so that is what I went with. The patterned paper I had in my stash and while cute I decided I wanted the card to be a little special so I embossed the yellow then punched the star out of it. A little sponging and some glitter pen finished the star off. Then on the left side of the main image panel I used the heart border punch. Not matchy matchy but I really like it.

So there you have it! Jump on over to the Critter Sketch Challenge blog to check out our challenge for this week and then be sure to check out the rest of the design teams cards, too!

Scott's Birthday Card

Happy Friday friends! I hope you've had a wonderful week. I'm sure you are ready for the weekend like I am!

Today's card is actually Scott's birthday card and yes, there is a story behind this type of image. When in high school Scott was the judge in the musical Trial By Jury (and hilarious in it I must say). Also, when asked what he wanted for his 18th birthday he said..."a duck." So, I bought a whole bunch of those little ducks from Oriental Trading and had them out for his party and yes, he had friends here for his party...lol! When I saw this stamp at Stamp and Create's store I knew I had to have. Oh, have I mentioned that Stamp and Create is this months sponsor for the Critter Sketch Challenge Blog? Yep, they are and I have a super cute card for you on Monday but in the meantime you should go check out Stamp and Create. They have an incredible selection of stamps and a great clearance section!

No frills on this card as it is for a boy ya know. I did use the sketch from Taylored Expressions again...it just fit the image so well. And I can also enter this for the Paper Sundaes Challenge for this week which is to make a card for a boy. And I just realized this would work for the free for all challenge on Wee Memories this week...yay!

Oh, I forgot to tell you that on the inside it says "A Happy Birthday." A simple but perfectly suited card...love it when that works out!

So...I hope you all have a wonderful

It's a birthday!

Warning...this is a non-stamping related post! Since I've talked on and on about Jon and Kyler I thought that I should give equal time to my oldest son, Scott, too and what better day then his birthday?

Today, 23 years ago I gave birth to my first son. I know...can you believe it? 23 years (it is also how I keep track of how long I've been out of high school...lol! Ahh...lessons learned)! I wanted to show you a photo of him as a baby but those photos are not on my computer so this photo of him on what I believe was his first day of college will have to do. Besides I think a baby photo might have been a bit embarrassing for him.

My Scott has an incredible sense of humor, love for his family and friends, and dedication to his country...among other things. He is currently finishing up a double major in Poly Sci and History and he'd like to work somewhere in the political arena. Unlike most of us he has enjoyed this last political season and frankly I called him to ask him what the heck a couple of things meant when trying to figure out who/what to vote for. I respect his opinion and knowledge and love talking with him.

So, with that I want to wish Scott a . We'll see ya tonight for dinner!

Happy Flower

Wow, it is Wednesday already. Can you believe it? Next thing you know it will be Thanksgiving and then Christ...never mind, I'm not going to type it. I plan on making a bunch of my gifts this year and need to get moving on it so if I ignore it the date will go away, right? Smiley from millan.net

Anyway, today's card is an interesting one. First of all it is HUGE a whopping 6"x6". That is not a size that I would usually make but since I used my Cricut with my Sure Cuts A Lot and a SVG pattern from My Scrap Chick. With only a few cuts this one was easy to cut and put together...I love that! I did decide that it needed a sentiment though so I inked up my stamp then thought I should use my stamp a ma jig. In the process of putting my stamp down it fell out of my hand and landed on the flower...nice huh? Sheesh. If you look at it close you can see where I dropped it. Silly thing! Guess what though? I'm sending it the way it is as I know it will be appreciated. Now I'm having a hard time resizing the envelope SVG that I have to fit this card but I'll get it!

And, I'm sure you've noticed my new blog look. While I liked the other one I really like the caricatures that I've been seeing and this new look has a lot of elements of my actual craft room so it is so fun. Do you see my diamond earring? Yep, that is so me too...the only thing I wear is my diamond earrings.

Anyway, have a super Wednesday! Hope you get your entire to-do list done today!

Turkey Pumpkin

Or Pumpkin Turkey? Which one do you think this image is? Either way it is cute isn't it? That image is from the new Verve set called Bountiful Harvest. The sentiment is from that set too...so pretty!

This card was made for the limeLIGHT Papercrafts sketch challenge from this last week. I wanted to be sure I got in for the challenge so I posted it on SCS yesterday and am showing it to you guys today. It has been forever since I've been able to play along with LLPC sketch challenges so it was really fun to be able to do it today!

Incredibly enough there are only 3 days until my oldest son's 23rd birthday. I know...I can hardly believe he'll be 23, too! He usually asks for me to make roast and a couple of years I've totally flubbed it up but since I found Pioneer Woman's recipe for roast I've not had a problem and it is SO good! I'm looking forward to Thursday!

Well, not much chatter from me today. I hope your weekend was wonderful and that you have a great day today!
