Envelope Flip Book

Ya gotta love Monday, don't ya?  It's a fresh start to a new week...so many opportunities! Today I'm sharing the swap that I am sending out today.  The swap I signed up for is called an Envelope Flip Book (head to YouTube there are tons of videos tuts).  I thought it would be best to use one pack of paper and embellishment and I happened to have an older set of paper called Splash by Bella Blvd in my stash so I went with a fun summer water theme.  You'll see that almost everything is from that collection.  Well, here we go, be aware there are lots of photos!
Above is what I consider the front of the flip book.  The silver eyelet is to hold the twine in place.  I wrapped the book several times but the recipient could just cut it short if she wanted to.  The little sunglasses I cut on my Cameo and the file is from Miss Kate Cuttables (more from Miss Kate later this week!).
When you first open it up you see the above two pages.  I really love the way these two look though the OCD in me wishes I would have put the blue (for water) on the bottom and the orange (for sun/sky) on the top BUT I think it looks just great the way it is!
On the bottom the little Wet & Wild card flips over and there is space to journal and some fun stickers.
The little fish on the top has sequins for his bubbles.  I just love that!
Next the flip book is turned to the portrait orientation and you see the next two pages.
The above page is just a big water splash with bubbles and sequins to jazz it up a bit.  The card has space to journal on the front and when flipped over.
On the right is the sand castle and another day in paradise.  Again, the card has space to journal and when you flip the card up.  There are more sequins for sparkle.
Here is what it looks like all the way open.  You can see two more pages show up when it is all the way open.  These two pages are my favorite (well, that and the back which you'll see in a moment).
On the right this panel has three journaling cards which I have held together with a cute little clip.  There are a couple of fun little embellies on each card too.
When the flaps are open there is a fun little beach scene and it says 'lazy summer day'.
Above you can see the three cards.  Again, I love the way the three cards cascade.
Then the left side there has a fun little card that says 'i wish I was a fish).  Flip it over and you'll see...
A fun little 'sink or swim' sticker and a place for either more journaling or a photo that would be slightly smaller than 4"x6".
Now, the two sides you see above also have pull outs that are 4 1/2"X6 1/2" so that up to four photos can be placed in the book.
And finally...the back.  This is actually my favorite space.  I think it really sums up what the book is about...fun in the sun!  The sun is a sticker from the paper pack and the clouds/sentiment are from Miss Kate Cuttables.

I have a couple of other big projects to share with you this week as well.  On Friday I'm sharing what I made as a Guest Designer for one of my favorite SVG companies so I hope you'll keep checking back!

Joy

Good morning friends! Welcome to a new week! What fun plans do you have?  I can't say I have anything necessarily fun planned but I have learned to enjoy the status quo.

I decided that yesterday I would make something just for me.  Since my Bible study notebook was just a plan notebook I thought it would be fun to turn it into something that I loved so I searched through my SVG files (to say I have a lot of SVG's would be a major understatement) and found a cute set called Simply Prim Angels (this collection is about half way down the first page of the mini collections section) from My Scrap Chick.  I adored the fun Joy Angel so I decided to use that pattern.

I used paper from MME Stella and Rose - Mabel collection.  Since they are 6x6 papers I just used two different patterns and made the bottom part where I put the Joy 'title'.  I kinda wish I would have made the angel larger but I think that overall this is super cute and will remind me to keep the Joy of Christ in my life...not just the happiness that our day to day circumstances bring.

I think I'm going to have a little more time to create this week so hopefully I'll be here a little more regularly.  Have a wonderful Monday friends!

Thought of the day:  I wish my friends houses were connected to mine via secret tunnels!  Even those far away!

Vote 4 Kyler!

Good morning!  Has your week been productive so far?

Last night Kyler and I spent quite a bit of time on his posters for his election.  You see, 8th grade class elections are coming up and he wants to be the secretary so he came up with a plan for the posters after brain storming a theme that would work for him.  His campaign slogan is Faith, Facts, Fun.  He plans on writing his speech to coincide with that slogan telling his classmates how those three things will work into his office.  Pretty cool, huh?

So for the poster I bought some neat shiny orange poster board.  Since Kyler wanted it to be in a triangle shape (think the trinity) Todd cut them for him.  Kyler then decided that faith is the most important thing in this theme so it went on top with facts and fun after that.  We cut the faith and 'vote 4 Kyler' on the Cricut (yes he helped), he found a Bible/cross clip art he liked, printed it off and cut it out.  We made a little 'notebook' with an old die from PTI and on the front we printed (in old english font) 'We the people of the 8th grade in order to for a more perfect union vote KYLER'.  Too funny, huh?  The soccer ball is a 3-D ball.  We just found a soccer image online printed out 9 of them, scored them down the middle and then attached them together and finally to the board...super easy!  Finally Todd and I bought some candy yesterday and made labels that say 'vote for Kyler' and then slapped them on some candy for him to pass out.  (Hopefully that isn't too over the top!)  Oh, and we popped up his name on the boards with foam tape so they stood out a bit more.

That was my fun yesterday.  It took much longer than I had anticipated but I think they look great and more important than that Kyler really likes them!  I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Thought of the day:  Today you have the opportunity to be someone's chief cheerleader or chief critic; which one will you choose?

Have a grande good time!

Good morning friends! I hope you've had a wonderful start to your week. My week just continues to get busier and busier but it is all good! Today I have a little gift to show you.  I know it looks a little eclectic but I wanted to do two distinctly different things with this and I couldn't decide which so I made one side more serious and one side cute.  This gift is for a friend of ours going on a woman's retreat this week.  Sometimes you need that extra uumph ya know!
So, this side is made with paper from Webster's Pages petite papers Ladies and Gents (I think...it was in a double collection pack.).  I used the 'Miss You a Latte' image from MFT and then did the sentiment on my computer.  Very simple and basic but I like it.
This side then is made with papers from Webster's Pages from the Country Estate collections (again, I think...this one came from a triple collection paper pack).  I added a sentiment that I have saved to my computer (not sure where from) and a butterfly.  I really like what the little signs say so enlarge it and check it out.
And then I had to add some fun on the top of the bottles with flowers.  I just adhered them together and put them on the top with a big 'ole glue dot.  It will still be easy to get the plastic off the lid for consumption.

I think this will make my friend and her com padres smile.  I'm way behind in my crafting so you may or may not see things that are not DT work this week.  I hope you'll be patient and stick with me.  Have a wonderful Tuesday friends!

Welcome Back!

Good morning!  So...how many of you have kids that started school today?  School starts for Kyler on Thursday but today we are going through his supplies making sure he has everything he needs.  Fun stuff!

Today I thought I'd show you the set of door hangers that I made for the teachers of Kyler's school and also the version I made for the male teachers which is right in front.  The images are from Doodle Pantry's School Sheep set and are pre-colored.  There was no way I was going to color all of those! I also printed the A+ and apple background on the door hangers that is in the School Time paper pack.  I did just a little select coloring on the apples and then highlighted the colored apples with glaze and the leaves with some stardust gelly roll pen.

As you can see I added the Ghirardelli chocolates and some Starbucks Via (instant) coffee in the pouch and they are all ready to go!  Yay!

I also added a photo of what the door hanger looks like on the door.  Pretty nice I'd say although I do think I don't want them to hang there too long as the cardstock isn't as thick as it could be and my other concern is little hands (since I did one for all the teachers K-8 plus the principal and office secretary).

Anyway, there you have it!  Kyler's school does do a little student orientation day with a hot dog lunch that allows the kids to drop off their backpacks full of stuff, see their friends, and get oriented with the school again tomorrow so I think  I'll go ahead and put the door hangers up tomorrow.

I hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday!

Thought of the day:  Never let your kids walk away without a kiss!  My kids are not allowed to leave or hang up the phone without saying 'I love you' especially if it was a particularly difficult conversation.

#1 Fan

Good morning friends! It has been a busy week already this week...yay! I subbed for the church secretary this week and while that is only until 3 in the afternoon it totally threw off my day and I haven't gotten much crafting in but I do have something for today and I have time in my schedule to create today so woohoo!

Today I'm showing you the insert to a notepad holder I made for an RAK. This person has kids that are all into sports so I thought I'd go ahead and make her something with a sports theme and I thought moms have to take notes during games too, right?

The paper that I've used is paper that I have in my stash. That "foam" hand? That is an SVG that I found on the net and then just cut it with my Cricut. I just printed the sentiment on the hand, put some "stitching" around it, and then added some stars at the bottom. It can't be thick so I couldn't add any dimension to it. I really like the results and I hope she will like it too!

I just want to give you guys a heads up about my blog. I'm going to be moving my blog to a new blog address soon and my followers widgets don't move with it (I don't believe) so you will have to re-subscribe. I will let you know when this is about to take place but wanted you to know ahead of time!

Make today a wonderful day all!

For my friend....

Today is Saturday! Yippie! I love Saturdays! Today I'm showing you a couple of photos of what I made for my now real life friend Danni! I got to meet her yesterday so in preparation I had to make her something and I couldn't make her something if I didn't make a little something for her kiddos, right?

First up is the bucket o' goodness that I made. I decorated it with some bright pink paper and embellies that I won some time ago. I added paper, candy, chai tea, some pre-stamped images, and an A Muse Studio stamp set in a personalized bucket for her to enjoy! This was SO MUCH FUN to make! She lives in the Seattle area so this bucket has a bit of a rainy type of feel to it. I decorated the lid with some rub-ons the from the collection as everything else.

Then for the kids I took a couple of small take out boxes, decorated them with some paper and their names and filled them with some Starburst. I hope they will use their boxes for other things in the future! Again, these were super fun to make!

Yesterday we got to have lunch at the Space Needle, we toured the Washington State Capitol building, met up with Danni and just had an all around great time! I love summer!

What are you doing this weekend?

Valetine Box

Good morning friends! I hope you had a super Valetine's Day! So...tell me, what did ya do? Did you go out to eat? Where to? Did your Valentine get you something special?

So, for Kyler I decided to decorate a box with some printables that I found at the Northridge Publishing blog HERE. I just printed it on some of my Neenah cardstock, trimmed it to the size I wanted, matted it and attached to the clear acrylic box. Green is Kyler's favorite color so I made sure the green Valentine was facing the front.

For the top I thought it needed a heart so I cut out three hearts with my nesties, ran them through my Big Shot in an embossing folder, scored them down the middle then attached them so they formed a 3-D heart of sorts. Again, green being his favorite color I used that color on the top heart. He also got a card I showed you guys awhile ago and a Valentine Webkinz monkey which is super adorable!

For dinner my fabulously talented husband made us steak and risotto. We were so excited about the steak and risotto we forgot about a veggie...ah well! I'll just eat more of them today. My contribution to the dinner was dessert. My mom used to make homemade cream puffs for Valentine's Day when I was a kid so I decided to try to make them myself and they turned out GREAT! They were so simple to make. The only thing is I wish they would have puffed up a little more but we ate them anyway so really...who cares?

Well, that is my excitement for yesterday but I do have to tell you something. Since Todd and I have been eating so healthy we both ended up with a little bit of a tummy ache from the richness of the risotto and the bigger helping of the steak. Lesson learned, I believe!

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Corner Bookmark

Good morning everyone! Whew has it been one of those weeks and it is only early Wednesday morning. I think that just means that the rest of the week will be smooth sailing, right?

I needed to make a little bookmark and wasn't sure exactly what kind to make so I Googled bookmark. On of the results reminded me of corner bookmarks so I then Googled corner bookmark SVG so I could cut it with my Cricut rather than having to fold it by hand. I came across the file for the bookmark that you see HERE. Isn't it pretty? I love the graceful curved lines of the bottom of the bookmark. I just used some old SU! patterned paper, a nestie label, and some letters made from my Big Shot and tahdah!

The rest of the week, here on my blog, is an exciting one. Tomorrow is McMahon 5 Designs release day and then Friday is the Sweet N Sassy Stamps Love Is In The Air blog hop. FUN stuff!

Did you know that this week is National Marriage Week? We all know that our marriages are important every single day of the year but I love that one week a year we can focus on our marriage, where it is strong, how we can improve and remind ourselves just how wonderful our spouses are. HERE is a link to the National Marriage Week USA website. And HERE is a link to a fun shop that makes t-shirts that say "my husband rocks or my wife rocks." My DH and I each have one. It is fun for me to affirm how much I love my husband in that way!

Well, have a super day everyone! Are you ready for Valentine's Day yet? Smiley from millan.net

Last Two...

Good morning everyone! I hope you all had a really good Monday. Mine was really busy but quite fruitful so that was nice. Last night was my first Deacons meeting at church. I think I'm going to like being part of this group. Deacons are all about the spiritual pulse of the church so we do things such as visit those in the hospital/nursing home, send cards, and pray for those that are sick or just plain would like prayer. All things that I enjoy doing. And, they are a fun, diverse group of people!

Today, because my time was filled with other things yesterday, I'm going to show you the last notepad holder and note holder that I made for Christmas. The notepad holder that I'm showing you today was one that I made for my niece. I love the paper and how the placement worked with the butterfly and flower...perfect! The colors are a bit off but pink and yellow are always a favorite of mine.

The note holder is made with some PTI patterned paper and frankly, I really like this one too. The soothing yellow and brown of this are just so nice to look at and that scripture...one of my favorites. I still have three of the note holders sitting in my craft room but literally just this moment I decided who they were going to go to. Yay! I don't like to make stuff and then have them just sit so I'm thrilled to have thought of who they would be perfect for!

Today is shaping up to be a pretty busy one too so I should probably get scooting. For some reason I keep thinking of this...Joy For The Journey. It is the sentiment on one of the note holders that I showed you earlier. I think I'm going to dig into my Bible and see what it tells me about joy in my journey.

Have a wonderful day you guys!Smiley from millan.net

More Note Pad Holders

Good morning. Well...it is Thursday! Yay! I'm glad to be heading into Friday...wait I said all of this yesterday, huh? Never mind then. Lets move onto the craft projects.

Remember when I showed you the note pad holders I made HERE? I thought I'd show you a couple of more that I made. These were for my nieces and it is my understanding that they really liked them. It was definitely fun personalizing them! I have to say that I really like Bailey's note pad holder but don't love Brittany's. I wish I would have done something different with her name but I think I was getting tired when I made it...lol!

The patterned paper that I used for these are just random sheets that I had in my stash and I really think that is what made these so fun...I got to use a bunch of different papers to make one that suited each person.

This is a quick post today. I've got several things to accomplish prior to going to Care Net for the day.

I hope your day is super! Smiley from millan.net
