More Handmade Christmas Gifts

Good morning!  I'm still working on showing some of the fun gifts I made for Christmas and am excited to show you the cups I made for the fabulous friends I volunteer with at Care Net.  The cups I bought at a group here on Facebook and the tags I made with a SU! tag kit - - I especially love the tags with the jingle bells!
I wish I had taken better photos but each cup (yes, they are those cute wine glass cups) has a name on it, some candy inside and a pretty tag on the outside.  I added the straws because I had them and I thought they were an adorable addition!

Treats for the neighbors...

Merry Christmas Eve everyone!  We have a ton a snow at our house...more than enough for me!   Will you have a white Christmas?
Today we are going to deliver some treats to the neighbors that I made.  This wonderful popcorn sleeve is from SVG Cutting files and includes the belly band and holly.  Kinda fun, right?  The little tag is a print and cut that I got from the Silhouette store.
I extend the wishes on the treats to you all!  Have a very Merry Christmas!

I'll be entering this into Creative Knockouts Challenge #121 - Christmas Delight

Prayer Jar

Good morning friends!  I'm working on a super cutie Halloween card to share with you.  The creative process was interrupted yesterday so it isn't quite ready for reveal so I thought I'd share with you, instead, the prayer jar that I made.

When in Iowa as part of our summer road trip my step-grandma gave me a jar that she says was belong to my grandma (my beloved grandma).  While it was nothing special and who knows if it was actually hers I decided to 'do something with it' as all crafters do.  I asked around on a Silhouette Cameo group that I'm a part of and someone gave me the idea of a prayer jar.  A little more research and I found a file for both sides of the jar.  Without further ado...the jar...
This first side uses the scripture Romans 12:12 in gold vinyl.
And the other side is a silhouette praying girl.  I just love this side!

My prayer jar is designed to put pieces of paper inside so throughout the day I can either pull one or two or however many out and pray for that prayer request or I thought I could lay my hands on the jar a couple of times a day and prayer for all the needs written inside.  So far I have one prayer request which is pretty consistantly on my mind anyway so I look forward to having it full of things to talk with God about.

Well...here to a productive day today!  Have a wonderful Wednesday!

The Master

Hello!  I hope you have had a great week!  I've done some fun crafting this week making a couple of cards and things with vinyl.  On Monday my hubby and I will be married 14 years.  I've been contemplating making something with vinyl for the bathroom mirror and it just came to me yesterday what it should be...we joke around a lot at our house and one of the things we say is that my hubby is the "master of the universe" so I decided to play on that a bit and make this mirror decoration for his side of the mirror - -
I used my Cameo by just playing with the fonts in the software to get it the way I wanted.  I modeled it off the fonts from the old t.v. show "Masters of the Universe" (do you remember that show?).  I put the decal at the top of the mirror for two reasons...one, I wanted to make sure it was level and two, because I didn't want the decal to interfere with his reflection when he's shaving and such.  I really love how this came out and am super glad that I did it!

Hope you are having a crafty weekend!  See you next week!

The Un-Shower Gift

Our nephew is getting married this summer and there was a bridal shower for the bride that was hosted by my MIL and niece.  I was not invited.  I know...boo, right?!?  They live 1700 miles away but I would have sent a gift so...I'm sending a gift!  I purchased a HTV (heat transfer vinyl) starter kit from Expressions Vinyl sometime back  and in the kit was this canvas bag so I thought...why not?  The wedding's colors are turquoise and coral so I tried to follow that theme.  I succeeded with the turquoise but didn't have any coral so had to just go with turquoise.
Just the sentiment seemed a bit boring so I thought, why not and added a diamond ring too!  This will go out in the mail in the next couple of days.  Hopefully, the bride will have plenty of time to use it as they are getting married at the end of August.  By the way...the cut file came like that...with a HUGE diamond and who doesn't love a huge diamond, right?

My filofax creativity...

Just thought I'd share a little personal craftiness I did the other day.  I will warn you that it is not, by any stretch perfect, but since it is for my personal use I'm okay with it.  It was actually quite difficult to cut the script portion of the saying (for some reason) so I cut it a couple of times (okay, three times) and then decided this was going to have to be good enough.
I have a filofax planner and the first page (this one above) is called the dashboard...I'm not exactly sure why but it is.  My dashboard actually matches the outside of my of my planner (I should have shown you that too, sorry!).  I was just searching for filofax blogs and ran across one that had my exact planner on it and she had made a dashboard page and a couple of other dividers which she provided for free!  I was so excited but wanted to make it even more mine so I bought this saying from the Silhouette Store and proceeded to cut it and add it to my dashboard.
The kraft colored polka dot dividers are also personal to my planner...I cut those on my Cameo as well.  Again, the file for those dividers I found in the Silhouette store...99¢ for six...I think I'll use them a lot as I love to change things out and I get bored easily.  As silly as it is I purchased a new pencil to match my planner (so...do you think I like pink much...*wink, wink*) and I love how it writes and has a huge eraser but also came with more lead and erasers...yay!

So now you've been introduced to more of my crazy in my planner life!  Do you use a planner...paper or electronic?  What do you love about it?

Open When Envelopes

Good morning!  I hope you had a fantastic weekend!  Last week we sent our son off to Camp Electric and then after that he was heading to his grandma and grandpa's house for a week long visit.  I saw these Open When Envelopes in the Silhouette Store (there are many, many envelopes in the store so if you are interested and purchasing the cut file just search for Open When and they will pop right up!) and just had to have them!  They are similar to me to the bags my grandma used to make by brother and I to have in the car on our ride home from her house...they were filled with snacks, comics, and other fun goodies and I loved them...even as a teenager!  I just wanted to do something a little special for him during this trip so the Open When Envelopes are perfect!
As you can see I made eight cards total.  The very first card he was to open was the Open When - Now envelope.  In it was a card that had directions for the cards, a personal message from us, and then we gave him some spending money for his trip.
Most of the envelopes had little comics, funny jokes or a little note from me.  Other miscellaneous things in the envelopes were Minion tic tacs and a Magic, The Gathering card he's been wanting.

I didn't make these envelopes super fancy because, one...they were going to a teenage boy.  It's not that he won't appreciate it just that he is a boy ya know and two, I was running out of time.  I don't know what happened but all of a sudden it was two days before he was supposed to fly...what?

I still feel that these are a fantastic job and I love that I did them for him!  Do you do anything special for your kids when you travel?

My First Ever Vinyl Project!!

One of the things I purchased the Silhouette Cameo for was to be able to cut vinyl to make fun gifts and projects.  What is funny is that I've been too overwhelmed by all that comes with vinyl that I hadn't tried it...until yesterday.  I wanted to make a birthday gift with it though so I put on my big girl panties and got to work.  First I picked out a fun sentiment to put on the glass of the frame I had picked out.  The sentiment was easy to pick because it said exactly what my friend and I talk about...that we are perfectly fine with our age and that we can't wait to get to the next big step.  So, ready to see the gift?

"My favorite age is now"  How perfect this that?  I added a couple of fun little hearts in complimentary colors as well.  Now, since this was my first time making something with vinyl I did mess up and the sentiment is not centered the way I'd like but I've got a couple of tips from people that will lead me in the right direction of getting it perfect next time.  There are actually two pieces of glass in this frame and the sentiment is on the second pieces of glass.

And then, of course, I needed to have a card and packaging so I threw this little set together.  I purchased all three of the files for these projects from the Silhouette Design Store.  Here is a link to the card, a link to the gift sentiment, and a link to the gift bag sentiment.

So there you have my crafty Saturday!  I hope you got some time to play in your crafty space this weekend, too!

A Simple Sentiment

I finished up the other sympathy card to put in the mail today.  It is a little bit later then I would normally get a card out but at least it is done and in the mail today.  Again, this card was cut with my Silhouette and I purchased the file from the Silhouette Store (#57435) and the little butterflies are a SU! punch that I have.  The papers are old papers from PTI and I thought they would be great due to their subtlety.
I'm hoping to get working on 4th of July cards and some special "envelopes" for my son to take with him while he is gone for a couple of weeks this summer.  More on that in the future!

WithSympathy

It feels as if I've had to make too many sympathy cards just recently...that is no fun at all.  I do put a lot of thought into them though to make them special for the person receiving it.  This one I used a file from the Silhouette Store that I purchased and was worried it would be too difficult but it wasn't and I'm thrilled with the way it came out.

The flowers and patterned paper are made with SU! cardstock...Calypso Coral, So Saffron, and Pear Pizzazz.  The base is SU!'s kraft cardstock called Crumb Cake.  I just couldn't fit a sentiment on the front so I just added it inside, stamped a sentiment, and called it good.  I actually have another sympathy card to make today and then I can move onto more fun things!!

I hope you have a fantastic day!

It's graduation time!!

I don't know about you but we definitely know several people that are graduating high school this year and one college graduation!  Very fun and exciting!  Kyler played drums in the band last night for the high school graduation and came home all excited because even though he has one week left in his junior year he is an honorary senior now...woohoo!  I'm excited for him too...it is a really exciting time in a young persons life!  Now onto showing you a couple of cards that I have made.  I still need to make one more today but I'll share that another day.  Here you go...
The above card is a cut file from the Silhouette store and is really quite large at over 6x6...in the envelope it is huge but I'm not going to mail it so it should be fine! The blue is the school color so that makes it a little more personal. It does have a 5x5 card attached to the back to write in as well.

The above card is for the college graduate.  I have to tell you I adore this card!!  It is a cutie file from KaDoodle Bug Designs (that I actually think I might have gotten for free though it is now just $1).  I found the branch file in the Silhouette store and it came with the flowers and leave so it was pretty much all set for me.  I made this one at 5x5 as several people will be signing it.  This mish mash of paper is from several different manufacturers...SU!, AC Cardstock, and A Muse Studio.  Seriously, this cutie makes me smile!

So, that is it!  Today I will be making another graduation card and a birthday card for sure.  Possibly a Christening card as well..depends on how much time I have.  I hope you all have a beautiful day!
